Use a Black Sharpie Permanent Marker to draw the designs on the skeleton face. Starting with the forehead of our male skeleton, draw a spider web with the Black Sharpie Permanent Marker. Next, draw a scalloped ring around each eye, resembling a flower. Outline the shape of the nose, creating an upside down heart. Then, outline the mouth in scallops. Lastly, draw two half-moon shapes on the chin and add swirls to fill in the extra spaces on the face. With a pencil, draw dots around the chin and above the eyes. These dots will later be painted. Optional: If you would like to darken the eyes and nose, fill in these spaces with Black Acrylic Paint.
With all of the black outlines completed, start filling in each area with color. Let's start with the eyes since they are such a focal point of this Day of the Dead style face painting! Paint the scalloped "flowers" around each eye with Blue Acrylic Paint.
Apply Yellow Acrylic Paint around the mouth using the black scalloped lines as a guide. Then, using Orange Acrylic Paint, create an arc of dots above each eye.
Now it's time to add a bit more color! Paint a series of purple dots on the cheekbones below the eyes. Next, paint a series of blue dots on the left and right side of the jaw. Then, paint the half-moon shapes on the chin in Orange and Green Acrylic Paint. Continue by painting an arc of green dots above the orange portion on the chin. Lastly, with Black Acrylic Paint or a Black Sharpie Marker, draw two teardrop shapes under the nose, connecting to the curved lines, creating a stylized mustache. Our male skeleton's face is now complete!
Let's start on our female skeleton! Begin by drawing the outline of all of the designs on the face with Black Sharpie Permanent Marker. From the top of the head down these include: a large half flower on the forehead, two stylized eyebrows with curled ends, scalloped "flowers" around the eyes, two lines on each cheekbone with curled ends, two hearts on the left and right of the nose, a scalloped outline around the mouth, swirled lines on the jawbone, and a half flower on the chin. With a pencil, draw dots in between the petals of the flower on the forehead and down the bridge of the nose. These dots will later be painted in. Optional: If you would like to darken the eyes and nose, fill in these spaces with Black Acrylic Paint.
The flower on the forehead of our skeleton will be painted with Purple, Blue, Yellow and Orange Acrylic Paint. Starting with the purple, apply paint to the outer rim of the petals. Then, fill in the center of each petal with blue acrylic paint. Next, paint a rim of yellow paint in the middle of the flower and orange paint in the very center.
To really bring our skeleton to life, apply bright pink paint to the scalloped area around the eyes.
Add a bit more color and visual interest to our skeleton's face by painting red hearts on the left and right of the nose. Then, paint red dots down the bridge of the nose and blue dots in between the flower petals on the forehead. Next, paint green in the scalloped area around the mouth.
Lastly, apply Orange and Yellow Acrylic Paint to the flower on the skeleton's chin. Finish the look with a few more blue accent dots. Now our skeleton beauty is complete!
We can't forget about our pup! Man's best friend needs a makeover too! Start by drawing a large flower on the top of the French Bulldog Skeleton's head with a Black Sharpie Permanent Marker. Next, draw a heart in between the eyes and on the chest, swirls under the ears, and an outline of the entire mouth. Then, add some color! Paint the rims of the ears green, the flower on the top of the head pink and purple, and the hearts bright red. Next, paint the entire mouth blue and the rib cage green. Lastly, complete the look with orange, purple and green accent dots. Darken the eyes, ears and nose with Black Acrylic Paint if you so choose.
All of our skeletons are now painted and ready to party! Dress them in themed colorful clothing like the Fiesta Ruffle Tie-On Skirt and Women's Fun Fiesta Kimono Vest. A Sombrero Hat and Black Lace Spiderweb Table Runner under the Floral Frida Headband work perfectly with this theme as well. No bones about it, these skeletons look fantastic!
