Assemble the butterfly house by inserting wooden slots in adjoining pieces. The tall pieces with the 4 vertical slots is the front of the butterfly house. It is easier to insert the twine and tie before assembling.

Paint the butterfly house. To get a softer colored, I combined white with bold color and thinned the paint with water to create a stain like look.

After the paint has dried, use the paint markers to decorate the house. I used pink to paint the edges of the house and green to draw stems and leaves onto this yellow butterfly house.

Add foam flower stickers to the house. For a different look, I once again drew stems with the paint maker, but instead of using stickers I used foam stamps to make flower shapes on the top of the stems. Use the paint makers to add centers to the flowers. You can use the paint markers to add more decoration to the butterfly house also.

Use paint markers to decorate the roofs of the butterfly houses. I drew polka dots on the pink house, zip-zag on the yellow house, and on the blue house I striped the underside of the house. Kids will love decorating houses to attrach butterflies to your yard, and then they will enjoy watching the butterflies in their new homes all summer long!
