Rub the wood frame of the Chalkboard with a dark stain. Once the stain is dry, apply a layer of white wash over the stain. You can just use watered down acrylic paint for the wash. Let the paint dry and then sand the frame to reveal the stain underneath and to create a fun rustic look.

Rub White Chalk across the entire surface of the chalkboard. Wet a piece of cloth and wipe away the chalk. I know it sounds counterproductive but doing this will leave a small amount of the chalk on the area making it look more like a vintage chalkboard.

Cut two lengths of Burlap Ribbon and hot glue the ends to the back of the chalkboard.

Gather the middle of the ribbons and tie together with some Natural Jute Cording.

Remove a DIY Unfinished Wood Cross from the wood base and attach the cross to the middle of the burlap using hot glue.

Wrap a length of Natural Jute Cording around both the cross and the burlap ribbon. Glue the ends of the cording to secure in place.
