Measure the length of your dessert table or wherever you'll hang your garland. Determine the number of DIY unfinished wood bats and coffins you will need. I used three bats and two coffins for my garland with five round unfinished wood beads as spacers in between each. Lay the shapes out in a row, alternating them, starting with the bat shape first. Cover your work surface and paint your bats and coffins with turquoise, pink and light purple paint. Be sure to alternate the colors you use for each bat and coffin. Set the items aside to dry.

Once the first layer of paint has dried on the bats and coffins, add a long strip of washi tape to the coffins from top to bottom and paint a coordinating color across the top portion of each. This will give your shapes a color blocked look. Make sure to press firmly on the tape so paint does not seep underneath. I started with turquoise and lavender on the bottom of my two coffins, and then added lavender and hot pink. You may need to add a few coats of paint to fully cover the coffins.

While the second layer of paint is drying on the coffins, paint round unfinished wood beads pink, purple and turquoise. You will need five beads between each bat and coffin for this craft.

Once the second layer of paint has fully dried on the coffins, add a length of washi tape right along the edge of your first two colors of paint. Leaving about 1 1/2 inches, apply another length of tape horizontally to the first. Be sure to firmly smooth the tape down onto the coffins so paint does not seep underneath. Paint this section with the third color of your color scheme. I painted the middle sections of my two coffins blue and pink.

Cut three small bats from black vinyl using the free printable bat template as a guide, and then adhere them to each of the painted coffins.

Measure a length of cording that will stretch in front of your dessert table or other item where your garland will hang. Be sure to leave extra on each end so you can tie it onto hooks to hang. Turn each of the bats and coffins over so their fronts are facing down. Apply a bit of hot glue to the full length of the top of a bat and place the cording directly into the glue. Add a small piece of felt over the cording to ensure it is secured to the bat. Next, add five painted wooden beads, making sure they are tight against the bat, and then repeat the process above to glue a coffin to the cording. Continue these steps until all the bats, coffins and beads have been adhered to the cording.

Finally, tie three pieces of coordinating colorful ribbon to each end of the garland and hang the garland itself in front of your dessert table for all to admire during your Vampirina Birthday Party!
