The first thing we're going to do is start on that cute tray. Take your paint, foam brush and wood tray and give the tray a light coat of paint. I like a white washed look, so just one coat of paint is plenty for that. Add more coats until you get the desired color. Let dry.

Next we'll take our permanent chalk markers and our glass jars (canisters for the flour and sugars, mini mason jars for the powders and salt and swingtop bottles for the vanilla). There are plenty of mini jars and bottles you can add other favorite ingredients if you would like. I just used the jars for the ingredients I use most often. With the black chalk marker, just write out the labels for each ingredient. You can choose a cute script font, or I also love the look of all capitals or all lowercase letters.

Now that our tray has had time to dry, it's time to add the fun quote! The printable is in color, but since I wasn't framing it (you totally could) I just printed it out in black and white. You'll also need your ball point pen and wood tray. Cut the printable to fit inside the tray and if you want to tape it to secure it that might be helpful. Now, just take your pen and trace around the lines! Press firmly so that it makes an impression, but not so hard that the paper rips.

Next, peel up the printable and you will see the outline of the design on the tray. Take your gold chalk marker and color in the rolling pin. Then take your black chalk marker and color in each of the letters. No need for perfect handwriting when you can just color in the lines!

Finally, just fill the canisters and display them all on the counter with your cute new tray! You can also put most of the jars and canisters on the tray when you want to move things around or gift it to a friend. What a great baking gift basket for your baking loving friend or family member!
