Begin by cutting eight pieces of natural cording into 50-inch pieces. This is a good standard length but if you would like your macrame to hang longer than I would suggest adding to this. Gather and tie all eight pieces into a large knot. Pull tight as this knot will be the base to support your vase.
Separate your eight pieces of cording into four groups of two. Tie each group in a knot about an inch from your base knot.
Split your original groups in two and create new groups of two. Tie these new groups in knots about an inch and a half from the first knot.
Grab the two end pieces of cording and tie these two in a knot.
Repeat steps 3-4 until your macrame resembles netting. If you ever lose your spot or get confused, insert your hand into the center of your macrame to re-arrange the cording.
Remove your macrame from the vase and dip in food dye to color. You can dip all of the cording in dye or leave the ends natural. Let this sit in the sun to dry for about an hour.
Once your macrame has dried add water and floating candles to your vase. You now have a fashionable macrame floating candle holder, perfect for an outdoor summer wedding!
