Tight roll your canvas pouches and secure with a rubber band. Mix up your dye. The more drops of food coloring you add to the vessel the more vibrant color you’ll achieve through the process. Just a splash of vinegar, a 1/4 cup of water and food coloring drops makes the perfect “kid-friendly” dye. It will stain and such, so monitor closely!

Submerge the rolled canvas about 1-2 inches into the dyed water (or desired depth of design). Let sit for 60 minutes. Be sure to heat the water to a boil if you’re looking for something more vibrant than you see here. The water we used was hot tap water. Also, drop in a wood bead (optional) and let soak.

Pull the rolled canvas pouches from the dyed water. Unroll and place on a cookie sheet or cookie rack to dry. Let the canvase pouches dry fully, then iron them using the cotton setting to set the dye. Run through a quick wash on the washing machine before adding the leather and wood bead pull.

Make a simple loop through the metal opening on the pull and thread a dyed wood bead. Secure with a simple knot.

What beautiful pouches! We’ve got the answer for cosmetics, gift cards, bridesmaids gifts, Mother’s Day gifts, teacher gifts, the list goes on!
