DESIGN ONE: Boho Chic Wood Dressing Tray
Select the napkins you’ll be using for your project. For the first design, the Bohemian Chic Wood Tray, we started with French Bull Foli Luncheon Napkins, French Bull Viva Beverage Napkins, and French Bull Mod Birthday Napkins. Cut out patterns and shapes to your liking, and practice laying them out on the Wood Slat Sign. Once your napkin pieces are cut, carefully remove the back ply (white portion) and discard. Work carefully, as the remaining layer will be very thin, and can tear easily.

For this tray, we painted the entire surface in DecoArt Cotton Candy acrylic craft paint and allowed it to dry.

Apply Mod Podge using one of your Jumbo Chubby Brushes, in the approximate shape of the napkin piece you’ll be applying. Carefully lay the napkin atop the Mod Podge and use your fingers to pat it down into place, taking care not to pull at the paper.

Once all the shapes are down, allow to dry, then coat the entire surface with a layer of Mod Podgeand allow to dry. Don’t worry about the wrinkles that may appear as you work, they will lessen in appearance as the surface dries.

Using small swipes of Mod Podge, apply Gold Foil Leaf Sheets to enhance the glam look of your tray.

Trim the edges as desired using decorative trims such as Natural Cotton Cord and Turquoise Lolita Pom Pom Trim as shown. They’re attached using hot glue. We also used a bit of wood glue to mount the tray to a wood candlestick, giving it a fancy pedestal.

DESIGN Two: Tropical Wood Sign
The same method described in the above steps is used in preparing and adhering the napkin pieces. For this design, we applied the napkins in long rows to match up with the grooves in the sign, creating a paneled or striped look with lots of contrast and visual interest.

A Black Sharpie was used to add phrasing to the sign. You can write anything you like; we used a fun twist on a pop-culture reference to create the words, “Cash Me Outside”. Faux flowers and Pink Lolita Pom Pom Fringe were attached using hot glue.

DESIGN THREE: Shabby Chic Hanging Flower Box:
Our final design is a fun, shabby chic flower box. Using the same Wood Slat Sign, three designs of napkins are applied in strips using Mod Podge and Jumbo Chubby Brushes. The designs are the Vintage Collection Dinner Napkins, Rustic Wedding Luncheon Napkins and Birch Beverage Napkins.

Once the decoupage glue has dried on this design, we sanded it gently, then used DecoArt Vintage Effects paint in white, as well as Antiquing Wax to create and aged, distressed look. You can apply these with the Jumbo Chubby Brushes, as well. There’s no hard and fast rules to this technique, apply as little or as much as you like to achieve the desired look, wiping gently with a rag to ensure a blended look.

We distressed, then attached a small wood box found at a dollar store, or you can use this flower box here, painted it with acrylic paint. This also received distressing and aging treatment. A personal collection of rusty vintage keys was the perfect find for embellishing the front of the box.

Inside, we placed two Pint Ball Mason Jars and filled them with flowers. The word “Flowers” was also added to the piece in a contrasting color of mint green, using acrylic paint and a fine paintbrush.

The finished piece looks lovely hanging on an old section of a wood gate, and the flowers can be switched out seasonally to match any decor.
