To make your pom poms, pick out 5 caramels. There are lots of colors to choose from for the foil wrapped caramels, so choose the ones that match your school colors for some fun customization! I have kids in two different schools and one has black and white for the colors and the other is silver and navy, so I picked out the silver and black wrapped caramels.

Cut some of your craft wire with your side cutters, a few inches is enough. Next, either wrap the bottom of the wrappers, or pierce the bottom of the wrappers and thread the wire through and then twist. I tried both ways, and they both worked. The key is to wrap the wire pretty tight and make it small enough to go through a punched hole.

Using a hole punch, punch a hole in the middle of each pom pom.

Take your caramel pom pom and push the bottom through the hole. To keep it in place you can either fold the wire over and it stays pretty well, but if you feel like you need a little more support, just add a piece of tape to secure it.

If you would like to customize your cheerleaders in your school colors, color in the shirt, socks and bows with a marker or even crayons. This could be a fun job for your kids!

Give your teacher their own little cheerleader anytime of the year and let them know how much you appreciate them!
