Fill your vase with water and the flower food that comes with your flowers. (TIP: Don’t forget the greens! A good assortment of leaves and stems is what can make or break a great floral arrangement. We ended up using more greens in our arrangements than flowers)
Use the clear tape to create a plaid pattern on the top of your 4″ vase. You will want nine openings when you complete your plaid pattern. This will help your flowers stay in place without the need of floral frogs or a great balancing act.
Make a small bunch of flowers and greens, and carefully place it in one of the openings of your vase. Don’t worry if your flowers flop over after you place your first bunch in. Sometimes the problem might be that your stems are too long, but most likely it will remedy itself as you put more bunches in the openings.
Keep on adding small bunches to your openings, and rearranging your flowers as you go. The more you add into the vase, the easier it is for the flowers to stand up.
Another great tip would be to keep the “Rule of 3” in mind. Add three of your main focal flower in your vase, creating almost a triangle around the top of the vase. But, this rule doesn’t need to just apply to your focal flower. You could also arrange your greens around the vase in threes. Make sure to have a bit of height, a bit at the top of the vase, and a bit hanging over the edges. As you play around with the arrangement, you’ll start to get the hang of it and it will come together more quickly!
