Place a small amount of yellow tempera paint on a paper plate. Use a small sponge paintbrush to paint the front of four large wood craft sticks. You can leave about one-inch unpainted on the end of each of the craft sticks. Let the yellow paint dry completely.
Pour a small amount of magenta tempera paint on your paper plate. Use a small sponge paintbrush to paint the ends of each of the large wood craft sticks with magenta paint.
It is helpful to hold each of the large craft sticks in alignment with each other with one hand while you paint so you can create a straight line with the paint. Let the paint dry for several minutes.
Add a small amount of black and white tempera paint on your paper plate and use an extra wood craft stick to mix the two colors together to create gray paint. Dip the end of a sponge paintbrush into the gray paint. Hold the large wood craft sticks together in alignment with one hand and then dab the end of the sponge paintbrush along the border of the yellow and pink paint to create a line of gray paint down each of the craft sticks. Set the large wood craft sticks aside to allow the paint to dry completely.
