Cut the 12x12" black cardstock in half. Using a ruler and white colored pencil, draw a rectangle in the center of the paper. Leave room at the top for drawing a teardrop shape candle flame. We used the ruler to keep straight lines and a 1" border as the frame.

With the help of an adult, use a small cutting tool and cutting board to cut out the candle shape. Cut a piece of clear contact paper, peel and stick to the back of the candle frame.

Tear pieces of the colorful tissue paper squares and press them on top of the sticky side. We used yellow and orange for the candle flame. Fill the candle with remaining tissue paper squares. Place another piece of sticky contact paper on the back of the candle. Trim off excess paper and hang with festive washi tape in a bright, sun-filled window!

Traditionally, there are 3 purple, 1 rose and 1 white candle. The purple candles each represent love, hope and peace. The rose candle stands for joy and the white candle stands for Christ.
