Welcome to the World Little One Sip and See

Welcome to the World Little One Sip and See

A sip and see is a fun alternative to a traditional baby shower. New parents invite their friends and family over to sip, either non-alcoholic or alcoholic drinks, and see the new baby. It's a great way to ensure everyone gets their fill of baby snuggles while congratulating the parents on their new bundle of joy. I can't think of a better way to welcome a new baby to the world than with an adorable world-themed sip and see with hues of light blue, yellow and mint green. Be sure to download the free printable Welcome to the World poster here so you can create your own!

Sip and sees have become popular with parents who don't want to know the gender of the baby before he or she is born. They're also a great way for adoptive parents to introduce their new little one to friends and family as well. While sip and sees are typically hosted by the new parents, it's not uncommon for the grandparents or close friends to help host the event.

Creating an inviting space for guests to help themselves to refreshments allows the new parents to mix and mingle without feeling the need to stop and serve anyone. We set up a welcoming dessert table with a DIY Watercolor Paper Fan Backdrop to set the scene. You can find the steps to create your own here.

A garland made with a mix of mint green, white and light blue tassels hung in front of the dessert table. Additional tassels were created from yellow tissue paper.

A smattering of yellow polka dot, light blue, white and green balloons were scattered on the floor to add an extra pop of color to the space. They would make for a great distraction for any younger guests that might attend as well.

Sips and Sweets

You can't host a sip and see without fun drinks! A beverage dispenser was filled with punch and labeled appropriately. You can download the free "sip" printable here.

A vintage globe found at a local antique store further added to our Welcome to the World themed decor and balanced the dessert table nicely across from the suitcase centerpiece. The suitcase was filled with all the products needed for guests to help themselves to the sweets. The mint green dinner plates, light blue dessert plates, yellow cups, mint green striped straws and yellow forks wrapped in the light blue napkins blended seamlessly with the decor and since they're all disposable, offer an easy clean-up once guests have left.

Speaking of sweets, serving chocolate-covered popcorn in light blue cups makes for a portable treat that guests could nosh on while they mingle with each other. You can find the free printable "Thanks For Popping By" tags, which were printed and hot glued to the front of the cups, here.

The cups were corralled on a small tray that was painted with a yellow stripe to match the theme.

Cupcakes are another easy and portable treat to serve at a party where the guests are encouraged to help themselves. Topping them with flags that were cut out of free maps (printed from the Internet) tied in with the theme perfectly.

The flags were hot glued to bamboo skewers cut at varying heights.

Parting Gifts

It would be a shame to send your guests home empty handed. Little hands will be especially ecstatic to play with globe stress balls party favors. It helped that they added a nice touch to the decor when stacked in a glass vase on the dessert table. You can download the free printable Welcome to the World Bunting here.

One last sweet for guests are the candy globes. A mix of white, mint green and light blue Sixlets® chocolates filled clear ornaments and were perched atop yellow painted mini ceramic flowerpots. To make the clear ornaments food safe only use individually wrapped candies.

As the day winds down, offer up one last snuggle with the new baby to your guests, then bid them farewell and take a much-needed nap! Be sure to pop over to get the steps for the DIY Watercolor Paper Fan Backdrop!
