For all you bohemian brides out there, it's time to go bold! Rock vibrant jewel-tone colors with this modern, tasteful, and oh-so-chic Moroccan inspired wedding. Marrakesh, Morocco was one of my favorite cities to visit. The bustling markets, intoxicating spices, and boldly colorful fabrics inspire fairy tale romance. Give your guests the feeling of far away Marrakesh by adding a dash of Moroccan flare to your wedding day with these ideas for creating a gorgeous and exotic celebration.
Make A Fairy Tale Entrance
Begin your wedding by walking down an aisle scattered with rose petals. An altar of flowers cascading from a modern geometric sphere makes for the perfect romantic focal point for you to exchange your vows. Get the simple DIY steps for creating this DIY Hanging Floral Altar HERE.
Line the aisle with lanterns and candles in glass votive holders.
Incorporate texture and a modern, tropical vibe with gold painted palm leaves.
A Unique Seating Chart
Once the ceremony is over, guests will be directed to the reception and begin looking for their seats. There is no way they will miss this stunning display the moment they walk into the reception space.
These hand-painted ceramic tiles double as personalized coasters guests can take home as favors.
Get the easy step-by-step instructions for the Moroccan Tile Seating Chart HERE.
Style the seating display with florals, Arabian Lantern Centerpieces and rows of Taper Candle Holders.Use Gold Chargers as Moroccan style trays for tea lights and glass vases.
Evoke romance by removing the glass panels from lanterns and filling them with overflowing fresh blooms. Swoon!
A Very Marrakesh Reception
Once the guests have their seat assignment, it's time to sit and enjoy the reception. Don't be afraid to go bold and create the feeling of a tent-covered feast in far off Marrakesh.
Taper candles are a huge trend right now. Set your table with a mix or tall and short taper candles to create a gorgeous and effortless table setting.
For the runner, I used a fabric cutting from a sari I found at a local vintage thrift store. On top of the runner add Gold Trim Open Top Terrariums with candles.
Spray Diamond Cut Pedestal Dishes gold and fill with grapes, pomegranates, figs our other lush colored fruits. Make sure to line the dishes if you're concerned about food safety with the fresh fruit.
As a centerpiece for the table, fill a gold painted lantern with fragrant, jewel-toned blooms. Create a hand painted tile to match those in the seating chart display as a table number for each table.
Time To Dine
Start the table setting with a Gold Metallic String Placemat. Lay a Hot Pink Dinner Napkin on top then layer the plates; a Fairy Tale Wedding Paper Dinner Plate followed by a Fairy Tale Wedding Paper Dessert Plate. This traditional design contrasts beautifully with the modern charger. On top of each setting place a (food safe) faux magenta dahlia head. This is such a simple touch that instantly elevates the whole setting. Complete the setting with a Purple Patterned Plastic Wine Glass, Pink Patterned Plastic Champagne Flute and Premium Metallic Gold Cutlery.
The last step is to add a sweet treat into a Plum Wedding Sphere Favor Box for guests to take home after dinner. I love the design of this sweet box and how the jewel tone color complements the setting perfectly.
The Sweethearts
At the head of the table create something special for the happy couple; a love seat. I used a peacock chair and decorated it with gold sprayed palm leaves, floral leis and a dahlia.
A Signature Punch
This fragrant, floral punch makes for a beautiful signature wedding cocktail. For me, it's reminiscent of the intoxicating scents of the Marrakesh markets! Get the simple recipe to make your own Strawberry Peach Sparkling Punch HERE.
Place the cake on a gold painted dessert stand. Top the cake with vibrant fresh blooms that flow down the side of the cake.
Sprinkle your punch with edible flowers that are sure to catch guests' eyes.
On the bottom of the bar cart add trays of glasses and another lantern filled with flowers. Have you noticed that the answer is to always add more flowers?
Complete The Vibe
Decorate the room with smaller vignettes that evoke your Moroccan theme like mini lanterns, flowers and candles.
Pair an Arabian Lantern Centerpiece with rose petals.
Finally, add trays of candles and flowers, using gold sprayed palm leaves as accents.
