Urban Industrial Wedding

Urban Industrial Wedding

Industrial chic is one of the hottest trends right now! Industrial styling is a beautiful and romantic style blend, infusing vintage, rustic modern with old.

It all starts with the venue. Think spacious warehouses and lofts with exposed brick walls, visible pipes, concrete floors, pullies and pillars. These previously unsightly elements are now appealing for their edgy charm.

Industrial styling is then about accentuating the textures within the space, contrasting the unfinished look with warm copper metallics and natural elements, like greenery, wood and flowers.

This eye-catching yet understated effect lets the wedding and happy couple take the spotlight.

The Ceremony:

Once you have found the perfect industrial space. Welcome guests to your minimalistic chic wedding with a stunning copper, green & black ceremony and altar. Find the full DIY here.

Start with modern acrylic signage welcoming guests to your wedding. The transparency keeps the focus on the industrial elements. I used a sheet of acrylic (translucent elements are another fun trend this year). I added strips of copper washi tape in a geometric formation. I then used my Cricut to cut the welcome message. Alternatively use black sticker letters.

I placed the sign on the Studio Designs Museum Wedding Easel with an accent of green, the Boxwood Garland and some fern fronds.

On the other side of the aisle an Industrial Style Petal Confetti Toss Station. Guests were given Kraft Paper Confetti Cones of petals, an easy to clean, bio-degradable confetti option.

Tossing an eco-friendly option like dried flower petals or herbs is a beautiful, colorful and fragrant option.

Once the guests are seated, make your way down the aisle. I chose this stunning And Two Become One Black Aisle Runner. The black is a super chic contrast against the worn concrete floor.

Vows can then be exchanged in front of this modern geometric wall hanging. I sprayed the Gold Calligraphy Love Sign rose gold and added this to the frame, a sweet romantic touch.

Pre-Dinner Cocktails:

Once the ceremony is over, it is usually time for bridal party photographs. Have your guests enjoy more of the fabulous space. Create a fun industrial style bar area for guests to mingle around for cocktails.

I found a large wood spool at the venue. I used this as the base of my bar, throwing a sequin linen over the top. I love how this touch of glam contrasts with the edgier elements. Then I spray painted a DIY Unfinished Wood Slat Crates copper and sat a Stained Wood Sign on top to make a bar top. I also sprayed a DIY Flower Box Centerpiece copper and used it to hold bar mixes.

I love serving a signature cocktail to start the celebrations. This refreshing Summer Sloe Gin Fizz is delicious and the cherry red color really pops against copper. I served these on steampunk industrial looking coasters made with wood squares painted copper and covered with a layer of copper foil. I then used a Galvanized Metal Tray updated with copper handles for tray service.

The copper crates are also a great way to display and store extra bottles, completing the industrial vibe.

The Table Setting:

Once cocktail hour is over, your guests can be seated. Many industrial spaces have the added benefit of fabulous over sized windows. Make the most of natural lighting from warehouse windows and use the lines of the window frames to determine placement of the tables. I also used industrial lighting and vintage lighting for ambiance.

I chose a low table number and centerpiece to further allow the reception space to shine. A neutral sand blasted citrus root with succulents and air plants, natural textures against the brick, concrete and wood. A large piece of driftwood would also be a fabulous option.

Place Settings:

I captured the industrial style with a neutral palette of black, acrylic and metallics. The clean lines of square black dinner plates & clear dessert plates contrasting perfectly with the round placemats and soft blush napkins.

I used Premium Rose Gold Metallic Cutlery at each setting. Then for glassware I used a Premium Clear Plastic Wine Glasses and a Clylinder Champagne Flute. Inside each, a fun rose gold foil straws. Next to these I placed mini Rose bubbles on Marble Coasters, a unique individual serving.

For the napkins, I spray painted napkin rings rose gold and glued on small succulents for a soft natural touch.

Further bringing the greens of the altar to the table with place cards made from leaves. I used my Cricut to create the names, stickers or rub-on letters can also be used.

Cake Table:

When it comes time to serve the cake, bring in some of your favorite elements from the ceremony and reception for the perfect cake photo opportunity.

An otherwise classic, two-tiered naked wedding cake is full of personality, with geometric detailing in an unexpected metal cake stand. I sprayed a pizza stand rose gold and placed the top of the Footed Cake Stand on top.

The cake is topped with succulents for a natural, cool look against the white brick backdrop.
