Living in Northern California leads to some pretty hot summer months. Being in the water during our 100°+ summers is second nature. What better way to beat the heat than to host an under the sea water playdate? We had some water play, arts and crafts and a little treat for all our guests to go home with.
I used a light blue table cloth and covered it with the tie dyed fish net. The green chevron plates reminded me of waves on the beach and were a good color combination with the light blue. Each place setting included a pair of fish print sunglasses, Sea Life Squirt Guns and the adorable dolphin cups. I sprinkled green paper confetti over the table to mimic seaweed. While the kids were waiting for their lunch, they worked on an under the sea sticker scene activity.
After lunch, to let our tummies settle, I had the kids create some paper plate sea creatures. These were a huge hit!
We then took a dip in the pool and joined our giant shark friend! The fish print sunglasses were perfect to keep the sun out of the kids' eyes. I also loved the pool-safe dolphin cups. No broken glass! Using their sea life squirt guns, the kids went to town keeping the adults cool at the poolside.
We came inside to dry off and stay cool. The kids played with the under the sea play table tent and their cute sea creature plush toys. At the end of the party, I sent each child home with some homemade watermelon sea glass candy and a growing sea creature.
The kids had such a great time! Having three kids of my own, I've discovered that planning a well-rounded playdate pays off.
