I am so excited to be revealing my classroom to you guys today! I have had my room done for about a month, and am just bursting to share. Are you ready?
I loved using the Red and White Striped Table Cloth Roll to make a popcorn bucket. I used my silhouette to cut out my letters, but you could use any Bulletin Board Letters to make it just as cute! The popcorn kernels is where I display all of my students work. Once I have my class list I will type them onto labels and each kid will have their own popcorn. I have finally after seven years figured out how to hang stuff in the hallway without getting in trouble by my custodian. I put a piece of electrical tape on the wall. Put a dab of hot glue on the tape. Push a pushpin into the hot glue. Then glue the pushpin onto a clothes pin, and finally glue to clothespin to the popcorn! Next to my work board I have my focus point of my hallway décor. My Big Top Directional Sign right below my name plate. My mom had the brilliant idea to save one of the directional signs to put under my name plate, so now my name is in lights! I can't wait to show you how I use this part of my hall way.
When you first walk into my classroom you run into my library, but you can overlook my entire classroom. All those white tubs hold our blocks and building supplies.
This is one of my favorite spots for my students. They actually fight over who gets to read in my bathtub! It is very special to me, since it was in my mom's 1st grade classroom when I was little. Also, my word wall is right about my bathtub. My bathtub holds my school chairs that I use for Flexible Seating, my Reading Pillows, and our book buddies. You also can see our reading tent. I know my kids are going to love reading in this little nook.
Again, I used my silhouette to cut out my letters, but I also decorated the bulletin board with some Tissue Fans and Dr. Seuss Wide Border. My bulletin board says "Books are a ticket to a new world" Isn't that what we are trying to teach our students? A book can take you anywhere.
Next we are going to run into my desk and guided reading table. This is my "zone" in our classroom. The bulletin board behind my desk is a difficult place to put an interactive bulletin board. So I used Tissue Fans, Carnival Wall Decor and Dr. Seuss Wide Border to make a simple "Come One, Come All" board. I am going to put pictures throughout the year of all the fun things that we do in our room. I also spiced up this area by hanging Paper Lanterns over my desk. Next to my TV, I have my weekly buckets where I put all the activities that we are going to be doing each week. Behind those, hiding my cable and power cords is the Ring Leader Stand Up Sign. Is he not just the cutest thing?
Again I used Tissue Fans, Tissue Pom-Poms, Scalloped Bulletin Board Borders and Dr. Seuss Wide Border to create this focus wall/calendar wall. I love using the Poms and Fans to create a 3D effect. This is the wall that we start our day with and refer to throughout the day as well.
Now you can see my whole wall. Next to my focus wall is my teaching area. My Smartboard, Easel, Chair and Blocks Abound 5×7 Rug. This is where I do the majority of my teaching. Next to my carpet area, behind my easel, is my sensory table and puppet stand area. You also can see my ABC Pennant. That bulletin board I made using ceiling tiles believe it or not! But to decorate I used Tissue Fans, Red and White Striped Table Cloth Roll, and layered Scalloped Bulletin Board Borders. I love the layering of the blue and white, it just makes the ABCs POP!
The next area is my I Can data wall. It was a blank wall that I used Dr. Seuss Wide Border to case in. Each one of those Carnival Wall Decor characters has a standard of ours. When our students master one of them, they get to put their clip onto the Circus Character.
Then when you keep going you see my student's cubbies with their Open House present in them. Each kiddo has a cubby. This is where they keep their backpacks and eventually their crayons and clipboards. We keep their nap mats and two extra pairs of clothes hidden under the black curtain. Well I hope you love my room just as much as I do! I can't wait for my kids to see it!
