Create the ultimate under the sea adventure for your little one's birthday party with a magical (and easy) ocean backdrop!

Create the ultimate under the sea adventure for your little one's birthday party with a magical (and easy) ocean backdrop! We wanted guests to walk into the party and feel like they'd stepped right into an under-the-sea oasis. To achieve that, we created this backdrop full of sea creatures that really stole the show! First, we cut Blue, Light Blue and Turquoise Plastic Tablecloths into sections, then we cut strips in each section, being sure to leave about two inches uncut at the top of each panel. For reference, we used one blue, two light blue and two turquoise tablecloths for this backdrop. We layered the sections of fringe onto the wall to create the "ocean water" by adhering removable poster strips to the uncut portions of each panel. A wave of White Fringe Paper Streamer was added to the top of the backdrop to mimic the water line above the sea. Of course we wanted the ocean to be full of sea life, so we added adorable sea creatures to our decor. A sweet Dolphin Mylar Balloon took center stage. To hang this balloon, we attached removable wall hooks to the back of the balloon, then used fishing line to hang it from another removable hook on the ceiling. We used this option because helium is hard to come by in our town right now. If helium is available in your area, you could simply inflate the balloon and use a balloon weight to secure it in place.

Under the Sea Party Cutouts added the perfect pop of color to the backdrop, and we love the festive texture that the pom-poms on the Under the Sea Hanging Tissue Paper Pom-Pom Decorations gave to the display! To bring the display out from the wall and extend it into the party area, we also showcased some of the cutouts on the floor by propping them on Coral Medium Paper Lanterns.

These DIY jellyfish were one of our favorite elements in the backdrop, and they're incredibly easy to make! Simply cut an Iridescent Metallic Fringe Plastic Table Skirt into small sections, peel off the tape backing, then secure inside the base opening of Purple Ombre Hanging Paper Lanterns and Mini White Hanging Paper Lanterns.  Use fishing line to hang them from removable hooks on the ceiling. We also gave the fringe on the mini jellyfish a little haircut after they were assembled so that they would look proportionate.

To carry the decor over to our party table, we added some under-the-sea flair to our party chairs. Green Fringe Paper Streamers attached to each chair back gave the appearance of seaweed, and we placed a Stuffed Clown Fish on each chair to swim amid the seaweed.

Adorable party supplies made the cutest addition to our party table! Each setting consisted of Under the Sea Paper Dinner Plates, Under the Sea Beverage Napkins, Light Blue Plastic Forks and Dolphin Cups with Straws.

Create adorable under the sea party favors using simple cardboard tubes and contruction paper!I saw the cutest little Puffer Fish Craft on Our Kid Things and was inspired to evolve the idea into fish favor tubes for each place setting. They were super easy to make and turned out so cute! I wrapped White Craft Rolls with Yellow Construction Paper then cut out some fins and hot glued them to each side of the roll. Giant Black Googly Eyes and a few details created with a black marker instantly transformed the tubes into sweet favor containers that were just the right size to hold individual bags of Swedish Fish.

Leftover fringe from our DIY jellyfish was used to create sea grass for the center of our table. We cut Jumbo Fuzzy Chenille Stems into fourths, then hot glued the pieces onto a circle of cardstock to create some tabletop coral. Stuffed Sea Turtles and more clown fish were added to finish off our centerpiece. For reference, we used three packs of the chenille stems (six stems per coral piece) to create two coral crafts in each color.

Our dessert station was nestled amid the water ripples and looked like a fun little treasure trove. The birthday cake was simply stated, with some of our DIY coral, a Stuffed Clown Fish and Natural Starfish serving as the topper. Iridescent Vinyl Twist was arranged at the base of the cake and offered the perfect under-the-sea glisten. Be sure to add edible gum paste to the bottom of any element that you want to place on top of a cake so the cake remains edible.

Under the Sea Paper Dessert Plates and Under the Sea Luncheon Napkins were arranged on the dessert cart with the cake. We accentuated this level of our cart with balloon "bubbles" and more green fringe seaweed.
