My classroom library is one of my favorite places in my classroom. My students love cuddling up with a good book in their favorite place to read. I know that as a child I was a big reader, and even as an adult I still love to stay up late reading the newest novel. It all stemmed from reading in my mom’s bathtub in her classroom when I was little. So I know that a comfy place, where kids can enjoy spending time reading is a must for any classroom.
I am very vocal of allowing my students have a choice in where they sit. So in my library they have a couple of little nooks to read in. My students can get in the bathtub with the Reading Pillows and our book buddies, they can drag the scoop chairs around the room, or one of our Foamnasium Straight Back Sofas. The more choice they have, I think, the more ownership they have of their learning. The bathtub is one of my favorite spaces in my classroom. It is filled with Reading Pillows and Reading Buddies. The ids can drag the pillows anywhere in the room, and read to their buddies. The Large Reading Pillows is kindergarten sized!
I have my books organized by theme. So for the beginning of school I have my Back to School, Fairy Tales, Nursery Rhymes, Construction/Community Helpers and Apple books out. I have them sorted in these Clear Storage Baskets. When it is September it will be time to change out our books and we can get out the fall and pumpkin books! This bulletin board is one of the first things that you see when you walk into my classroom. I used Tissue Fans, Dr. Seuss Wide Border, tickets, and die cut letters I made with my Silhouette Cameo. It reads "Books are a ticket to a new world". I love how by layering the fans, it really makes the board POP! I also made my library more circusy by adding the Big Top Tabletop Tent. It adds just a little bit more flair to the corner.
Well, I hope that you all enjoyed a peek into my library nook! I can't wait to get my students in there, with a book in their hands!
