It's tiki time and everyone is going to want a "ticket to paradise" to celebrate a very special birthday at this Tween Tiki Time Birthday Party. This tropical tiki themed luau is the perfect summer party theme for picky tweens.
It's finally time for a luau themed bash and this fun summer party theme is easy to put together and perfect for tweens! This "lei'd" back luau is full of fun activities including Tiki Totem Pole Bowling, a Flip Flop Station and pool games.
I was inspired by the laid back fun-loving attitude of Hawaii for this birthday celebration. I thought it would be fun to bring the sand, sun and insland life to our backyard with this tiki time birthday celebration.
With festive luau decorations it was easy to pull everything together for this tiki themed celebration. My daughter and her friends had lots of fun swimming in the pool and playing on the giant themed pool floats.
I kept the decorations fairly simple for this party, but I made sure to incorporate strategic pops of color for our tropical themed party. I used this terrific tiki banner to decorate the pool area. It was a cute and colorful way to add some Hawaiian flair to our tiki party.
I set up a small treat station under the tabletop tiki hut and had fruit kabobs, popcorn, piña colada brownie bites, cupcakes and citrus flavored water for the kids to snack on. I flanked the table with giant tiki totem poles! They were the perfect addition to our tiki themed party and the kids loved taking pictures with them!
We grilled hot dogs and when everyone was ready to eat they found a seat at our colorful tropical table. I used the DIY tropical palm frond table runner I made for a Cuban Themed Couples Shower and Luau Tiki Centerpieces to create a simple tiki inspired table setting. Colorful pineapple and flamingo paper plates and aloha napkins paired with the fun Tiki Plastic Cups to complete this tropical look.
After a snack break it was time to head back to the pool for more swimming. The kids loved lounging on fun pool floats! I think the crowd favorite at this party were the pineapple float and the giant inflatable palm tree float.
We also had a DIY Flip Flop Station where the girls could make their own personalized flip flops. Everyone picked out a pair of flip flops and then embellished them with ribbon, flowers, buttons or balloons. This was such a fun activity that kept the girls busy and doubled as a cute party favor too!
When everyone was ready to take a break from swimming again we had a cute and colorful game of tiki totem pole bowling set up. I always like having themed activities at our parties to keep the kids busy and bowling always seems to be a hit with kids no matter their age. Decorating the bowling pins to match your party theme is an easy way to turn an ordinary activity into an extraordinary one.
This party theme was perfect for those picky tweens and everyone had fun swimming, playing games and enjoying tropical themed treats.
