Of all the turtles in the sea, you’re the only one for me! A palette of lime green and turquoise products helped me create this sea turtle themed party. This party works as a first birthday party theme for a boy or a girl but could also be easily transitioned into a general kids’ party. Follow along to recreate this fun party for your own little turtle!
SET THE SCENE Start by decorating the entire party space with lime green and turquoise paper lanterns. Hang some above the dessert table and the dining table, then place some on the floor under the party table. The lanterns provide a nice under-water feel to the party.
Mix in some DIY Sea Turtle Pom-Poms above the dessert table. These adorable sea turtles are made with lime green tissue paper pom-poms. Check out my full DIY Sea Turtle Pom-Poms post for step-by-step instructions on how to make your own.
Lay down a lime green polka dot runner on the dessert table (bonus: the opposite side is green chevron if you prefer that pattern!). For the turtle party sign, I simply typed the quote and sent it to my local office supply store to print as a poster mounted on foam core board. Super easy! I created the sea turtle garland on the front of the dessert table with sea turtle cutouts, lime green tassel garland, and beach fringe. Check out my DIY Sea Turtle Party Garland post for the step-by-step instructions on how to make it.
SET THE DINING TABLE Create a beachy sea turtle dining table for party guests to eat at complete with a beach fringe table skirt, round luau fringe placemats, sea turtle cutouts, turquoise quatrefoil dinner plates, lime green dessert plates, turquoise quatrefoil napkins, and lime green forks. And of course, a giant inflatable sea turtle is a must! This guy provides tons of laughs and fun for little ones!
THE PARTY FOOD & DRINK A cute sea turtle bath squirter made the perfect cake topper! Apply gum paste to the base of the turtle so it doesn't directly touch the cake. The bottom of the birthday cake was lined with green gummy hearts.
The green gummy hearts also made cute cupcake toppers! To add even more variety to the table I filled clear candy containers with lime green jelly beans.
"Sea Water" (blue Gatorade!) was served in glass milk bottles with green polka dot paper straws.
These Sea Turtle Fruit Plates are cute and healthy! Check out my full post on this sea turtle party snack. THE GAMES AND ACTIVITIES A first birthday party needs to have a couple fun activities for little hands.
First, have party guests "Adopt a Sea Turtle" by choosing a plush sea turtle to take home in their own turtle tote bag.
For another game, draw a star on the bottom of a couple sea turtle bath squirters and let the kids take turns trying to find the winning turtle. When they turn over a winner, they get a prize! This sea turtle first birthday party is a swimmingly good time for all ages!
