My classroom library was looking a little dated and my sweet students were having trouble staying focused there. They were lost as to where to put books when they were done with them and needed some furniture to keep them in “bounds”. I decided a makeover was in order!
This is what I walked into this year when I returned to school. Not very inviting!
I started cleaning up my library area by organizing my books. I put labels on each book so the children know which books go where. I labeled the Large Woven Storage Baskets with the Stick-On Storage Labels and slid in a label to show what kind of books my students could find there. The Large Woven Storage Baskets are the perfect size for books of many shapes and sizes!
I then turned my attention to the ceiling! I already had the Cool Colors Hanging Lanterns hanging there, but I wanted to add a few more that had some different designs on them, so I went with the Turquoise Chevron Lanterns and added in some variety that way.
I tied the Black Single Faced Satin Ribbon around the top of each lantern for an instant refresh! I think it made them more inviting.
I also added a quick chalkboard banner I made with my die cut machine and chalkboard paper to bring some more height to the space. I added a few pieces of Black Single Faced Satin Ribbon to the banner to help tie it in.
I then added a new rug and this fabulous Foamnasium Black Foam Sofa! It is the perfect size for my students to curl up in and read a good book! I also put a few more pillows out for my students to lay on when they read. I really love the Large Blue Pillow!! Its super soft and just the right size for my littles to lay on! On the bookcase, I put a few inspirational sayings about reading in some black frames. I will change them out throughout the year. Stay tuned for a closer look at the tie-dyed pillows in a future post!
