Throw a Howl-o-Ween Bash

Throw a Howl-o-Ween Bash

I love seeing all the little ghouls dressed up and strutting their stuff in their costumes, and hosting a night full of tricks and treats is a fun alternative to the door-to-door trick-or-treating! Growing up, I was always the little girl who liked to pick out her costume early so I could wear it for days on end, because let's face it, one day just isn't enough! And although I do love Halloween, I shy away from the gory scary bits of the holiday, and instead lean towards the girly approach. Think cute and cuddly werewolves -- the theme for this year's party!

The Backdrop:

Sticking with the traditional orange and black colors, but adding in an unexpected pop of color like hot pink, will definitely make your party stand out from the rest. Creating a statement piece backdrop will provide your guests with plenty of eye candy. Although the backdrop packs a big punch, you'd be surprised how simple it was to create, and easy on the pocketbook to boot! You can find the details on how to create this stunner here.

Offering a Howl-O-Ween Trick or Treat Station serves as a fun activity for guests. They will howl with delight at all the fun goodies they have to choose from. I like to mix in both candy, and non-candy items for the ghouls to choose from. Don't get me wrong; I'm all for the sugar, but sometimes a little goes a long way. Your guests will need something to corral all their loot, so why not send them home with one of these adorable werewolf ear-topped favor buckets? They're so cute they even double as party décor! See how to make the werewolf ears here.

The Table:

Sometimes less is more when dressing a table, especially when your party is full of color and pattern. Using a Hot Pink Chevron Table Runner, instead of covering the full table, added just the pop needed to set the stage for our DIY Decorative Pumpkin Set. I had so much fun decorating them for the party, and it couldn't have been easier to turn them into works of art! Simply paint the pumpkins a solid color of your choosing, then using another color from your party's theme, slowly pour paint over the top and let it drip down the sides. I was a little nervous at first, but you really can't mess them up. I love that they all dripped slightly differently, but still had that same cohesive feel.

The Place Settings:

I love playing with pattern and having a layered mix and match feel just screams fun. The Black and White Scalloped Chevron Dinner Plates perfectly coordinated with the Hot Pink Chevron Snack Bowls and table runner. Adding in the Orange Polka Dot Napkins and Dessert Plates might be a little unexpected, but I think it gives the table a little pizzazz. The Metallic Silver Plastic Forks joined the party with a little help from a dash of hot pink paint.

Party Favor:

What better way to howl at the moon than with your very own set of werewolf ears? These ears are topped with a hot pink bow, of course! Darling Werewolf Ears Headbands were placed at each place setting for guests to wear both during the party and to take home for a reminder of the howlingly good time they had. You can find the tutorial to make your own here.

Desserts:

The amazing hand-painted cookies from Say Anything Bakery were such works of art it was a shame to not display them on our table for all to see. The dripped pumpkins with added confetti couldn't have tied in our balloons and DIY painted pumpkins more perfectly if they tried. And I literally howled when I saw the sweet as can be girly werewolf! I (almost) felt guilty eating her.

Guests also nibbled on yummy Werewolf Kibble, which was served in the Hot Pink Chevron Snack Bowls. It was so good they could barely keep their little paws out of it!
