Every year I throw a Galentine’s Day party…because I LOVE my girlfriends, and what’s more fun than throwing a party for ladies celebrating ladies? I like to have different things to do each year. We’ve done brunches, movie nights, and lunches out, and it’s always a blast! We all bring little Valentines for one another like you do in grade school, and my friends are seriously hilarious and creative, so they set the bar pretty high.
Have you been to one of those sip and paint parties that are popping up everywhere? They're so much fun, so I knew it would be fantastic to do a DIY sip and paint party for Galentine's Day! But don't limit your party throwing to just Galentine's Day. This would make a super fun tween party, couples party, or just a random girls night!
The Party Creativity takes space, so the first thing you need to do is make sure there is enough space for everyone! I thought it was fun to have a set of watercolors for each guest plus paintbrushes in different sizes. It's not 100% necessary, but it does make it easier. I loved adding little girly touches to the decorations, like these ostrich feathers I used in the centerpiece, and the paper fan wreaths I used for the backdrop.
I also added feathers and brushes to the champagne glasses that would be used as water cups for painting! How fun is that?!?! Way cuter than a little paper cup, that's for sure.
You'll also need a painting activity. I have a simple one that you can use, and it's seriously cute – everyone will want to display their DIY Watercolor Heart Tree with their Valentine's Day decor!
I love having fun place settings, and one of my go-to ideas is painting names on sugar cookies. To do this, simply freeze your cookies for a few minutes until the frosting is set, and then using a CLEAN paintbrush and food coloring, paint away! It's super fun and you can paint pretty much anything on a cookie. Kind of perfect for a painting party, don't you think?!
Every party needs a little sweetness, and the cookies are great, but a mini candy buffet with some chocolate, caramel, and a little fruity taffy has something to satisfy everyone. It's nice to have treats that won't make a mess and that you can also eat while painting.
To decorate the table, a simple centerpiece is all you need. I love the simplicity and girliness of this one!
Finally, you'll definitely want something to sip, since this is a sip and paint party! I made pink mocktails that are super easy, delicious and over-the-top cute.
