Throw an Art Themed Bridal Shower

Throw an Art Themed Bridal Shower

Shower the soon-to-be bride with a bridal theme shower that speaks to her creative personality. Go beyond small talk and get everyone talking and laughing with an entertaining art class. Create an art class setting in your own home. Then either bring in an independent instructor or have a crafty friend lead a painting session to make a cool, artsy project your guests can take home with them. You'll find it easy to cater to every level of artistic capability with a variety of fun painting options. From finger painting to watercolors, acrylics and even stencil crafts. There is something to fit any artsy theme.

AN ART GALLERY BACKDROP

Make the cake an artsy focal point for your bridal shower. Create an art gallery inspired backdrop. Recreate the look with a strip of Pacon® Fadeless® Paper Art Roll.

Draw simple doodle frames of varying kinds using Sharpie® Fine Point Markers. Once complete have a little fun painting simple watercolor strokes and shapes inside the frames.

I used a bar cart as my dessert table, a small table would also work. Place this in front of the doodle frame backdrop.

Place the cake on a White Ceramic Cake Stand. For this cake I had the design from the tableware painted onto it with a watercolor overlay. This ties in to the bridal shower table decor. Then use paintbrushes and swirled meringues as cake toppers. I love how the meringues look like a squeeze of paint on top of the cake.

Next to the cake I styled the bar cart with paint containers and a unique DIY Paintbrush Vase. Find out how to make this vase here

Create a unique art themed banner to hang across the top of the bar cart using pink ribbon and gold painted paintbrushes. I added leaves cut from a Painted Floral Garland at each end for an extra flourish.

On the lower level of the bar cart I used a Medium DIY Basswood Canvas Square to create a decorative sign. Paint the edges of the canvas square pink, then use the Hallmark® Adhesive Stencil So Happy Design to paint the design onto the canvas square.

I always like to add extra plates and napkins to the dessert bar so there are plenty available when the cake is cut. Add Painted Floral Beverage Napkins and Painted Floral Paper Dessert Plates to the cart as well as any other dessert treats you are serving such as macaroons in various paint palette colors.

ART 101

Set up an area for the art class to take place. Cover the tables with Painted Floral Plastic Tablecloths to protect the tables as well as adding a unique artsy look.

At each table setting use a cost-effective Tabletop Easel and place a 12" x 12" DIY Canvas on each one. In front of the easel add Assorted Colors Watercolor Paint Trays for those who wish to try their hand at watercolor.

Then add a Round Paint Palette for the acrylic painters. Line the acrylic paints down the center of the table for easy access.

Tip: If your guests don't feel comfortable free hand painting, use the Hallmark® Adhesive Stencil So Happy Design to create an outline for them to work with.

Then add a Pink with Silver-Trim Plastic Tumbler as a water glass for brushes, a Painted Floral Luncheon Napkin for spills and a Premium Plastic Champagne Flute for the flowing bubbles!

Behind the table, hang aprons for guests to put on before getting into painting activities. Not only do they look fabulous they keep everybodies party clothes paint free. Get the full DIY for making these DIY Personalized Art Aprons here.

Finally, if you have more space on the wall put up some Large Pacon® Finger Paint Paper using Colorful Masking Tape for fun finger painting activities. Alternatively use an Art Street Finger paint Paper Roll which can be laid out directly on the floor or table. This gives you painting options for everyone and any skill level.

NOT SO STILL LIFE

Move over still life fruit, hello delicious pre or post painting luncheon. Start by laying the table with another Painted Floral Plastic Tablecloth.

Use paintbrushes as decor down the center of the table. In the center of the table I sprayed a wooden art form gold and used this as a centerpiece.

To keep with the artsy theme I used a disposable tray as a charger. Replicate this look with a Cool Craft Tray. Spray paint it to match your color palette, then add a Painted Floral Dinner Plate and Painted Floral Luncheon Napkins with a set of Goldtone Hammered Cutlery.

Then add a Painted Floral Paper Cup for water and a Clear Premium Plastic Wine Glass.

A Mini Wooden Easel Place Card Holders is perfect for this theme. I took apart the Painted Floral Garland and added guests names to the individual flowers to create "gallery art" place cards.
