It’s fiesta season here in San Antonio! Every April, the city comes alive for two full weeks of outdoor parties and parades simply know as “Fiesta”! It is a celebration full of brightly colored paper flowers, beautifully embroidered dresses, and lots of good food and drink. I recently had a few girlfriends over to kick off Fiesta together with margaritas, individual 7 layer dips, and even a little al fresco crafting in my backyard! These party ideas would make for such a fun Cinco de Mayo get together with friends, starting with this amazing fiesta invite in a box. Who wouldn’t love to receive this in the mail?!
To transform my backyard into a fiesta, I decorated our picnic table with colorful tableware and balloons, inflated a cactus, and hung a pretty papel picado garland. Instant party!
These giant tissue paper flowers are a gorgeous way to decorate the table. I placed them on top of a lime green chevron runner. The brightly colored dinner plates and dessert plates layered on top of each other and the fiesta patterned napkins add additional pops of color.
I created a bouquet of fiesta party balloons to make a big festive impact in the middle of the table! All you need are some colorful Sharpies® and party streamers to make these maraca-inspired balloons.
I incorporated more maracas at each place setting by covering these fun DIY wood maracas with a coat of white paint and then doodling on them with colorful Sharpies®. These personalized maraca place cards doubled as fun party favors too!
Lots of these mini fiesta donkeys were scattered down the table! How cute are they?!
To keep food simple, I made a batch of margaritas and these individual 7 layer dips in advance of the party. I severed them with lots of tortilla chips and Mexican candies for dessert.
After we ate I set out supplies to make our own fiesta floral headbands.
It was so nice to enjoy a nice evening outside while getting to do a fun craft together. The pre-cut tissue paper circles and squares make it so easy to make the flowers. Your friends don't need to be crafty in order to enjoy making these!
We kept crafting and chatting until it got dark! It was such a fun party, and since everything could be prepped ahead of time I was really able to enjoy it along with my guests!
