Thanksgiving Foyer Decor Ideas

Want to decorate your foyer for fall and keep it up through Thanksgiving? These simple ideas for decorating an entry table or buffet will look good all season long! Start with plenty of pumpkins in different shapes, sizes and textures. Then incorporate fall leaves and natural elements to bring in the cozy fall vibe. A couple special decor pieces such as a "Thankful" Fall Leaf and "Blessed" pumpkins provide the perfect messages to greet guests with at Thanksgiving and throughout the season.

Welcome Wreath

A "Welcome" sign is always a nice addition to a foyer to greet your guests. To make a simple fall-themed welcome wreath, just add a "welcome" cutout to the front of this 16" Bittersweet Wreath. Here is a similar welcome sign to the one I used.

Two-Tiered Fall Display

I love using a tiered serving tray in the foyer. Not only can it be a functional piece that holds keys and sunglasses, but it can also be dressed up for holiday decor. For the Thanksgiving season, I filled this Tiered Galvanized Metal Serving Tray with white craft pumpkins, mini glitter pumpkins and pinecones. I used a couple of mini DIY wood crates to help raise up some of the mini pumpkins and create different heights. If you want to provide a soft fall glow for your tiered display, you could also incorporate a few votives with flameless candles or a strand of fairy lights!

Lots of Pumpkins!

No fall or Thanksgiving display is complete without pumpkins! I incorporated them in all shapes and sizes for my Thanksgiving foyer. I always prefer to decorate inside with faux, rather than real, pumpkins. I never have to worry about them rotting, and I can reuse them in different ways year after year.

The stars of the display are these gorgeous Gilded Harvest Mercury Pumpkins. I love the sophisticated look of this set of pumpkins and their pretty metallic color would pair well with a variety of decor. I placed this one on a cake stand to give it some height and to show it off.

As a fun contrast to the shiny metallic pumpkins, I incorporated this set of three burlap Farmhouse Fall Pumpkins for a softer texture. I also sprinkled in some mini Paper Raffia Pumpkins for another textural element.

DIY Blessed Pumpkins

Here is a simple way to transform a plain white craft pumpkin. Decoupage on a festive saying from a printed Thanksgiving napkin. I cut out the word "Blessed" from these Thankful Dinner Napkins, separated just the top layer of the paper napkin, and then applied it to the front of the pumpkin with a thin layer of Mod Podge. You can make a one-of-kind pumpkin in minutes with this technique!

DIY Fall Leaf Shadow Boxes

These DIY Fall Leaf Shadow Boxes are another fun decor piece that you can make for your Thanksgiving vignette. Just line a DIY Wood Shadow Box with birch. Then add a variety of natural elements such as wood leaves (I decorated mine with gold leaf), decorative felt leaves, mini pumpkins, pine cones and more. You can get the step-by-step shadow box tutorial here.

Fall Bouquet

A bouquet of wheat or dried flowers gives a pretty fall feel and will last all season long. This Two Handle Ceramic Vase is the perfect size for a statement bouquet and can be easily repurposed for different holidays throughout the year.

Thankful Fall Leaf Decor

This Thankful Leaf Wall Hanging is the perfect color palette and message for Thanksgiving. I incorporated it into my foyer vignette by hanging it on the wall, but you could also hang it on your front door. For a bigger statement, hang it from the center of a large fall wreath.
