Thanksgiving is such a great time to reflect on all that we are grateful for in our lives. To me, this means gathering with and enjoying the company of family and friends that we consider family. Celebrating together with good food and great conversation is the perfect recipe for a fantastic Friendsgiving celebration! In our home, one of our favorite Thanksgiving traditions is watching the Macy's Day Parade on TV. This year I wanted to create a very non-traditional celebration and was inspired to throw a Thanksgiving Day Parade Inspired Friendsgiving Party! Everything about this party is fun and whimsical, ranging from the bold color palette to the large character balloons flying high above the low pillow floor seating. It's such a unique and playful take on the traditional Thanksgiving parade and will guarantee to be a great conversation starter! I really wanted to capture the fun, playful atmosphere of the parade in this party. When I was first envisioning this party I knew I wanted it to be bold, with a color palette of black, white, taxi cab yellow and pops of red. I also loved the idea of creating a skyline out of a roll of black paper and then floating large character balloons among the buildings. I customized the Personalized New York City Subway Sign to say "Happy Friendsgiving" and the year for the perfect themed backdrop.
As with almost all of the parties that I create, I first started by designing the invitation. Next, I moved on to creating the other printable graphics for this party: napkin wraps, a tabletop sign, favor tags and others.
I wanted the place settings to remain simple yet have a touch of elegance. Beyond the already established playful atmosphere, I liked the added touch of gold to really elevate the tablescape. The Gold Chargers were a perfect touch to layer under the Red Solid Scalloped Paper Dinner Plates. The Wine Decanter Ceremony Set worked well for serving wine in the Stemless Wine Glasses. The Gold Trim Champagne Flute Set was a great addition to the table too.
A favorite element of the party was the "I am thankful for..." skyscraper that I created using the Large City Skyscraper Cupcake Stand. I created a printable sign for the top of the building that said "I am thankful for". Guests could then fill out the small tent cards, that resembled a voice bubble coming from a taxi, with their responses. I loved the interactive nature of this activity and the fact that the piece matched the tone and style of this party.
No one should leave a Friendsgiving celebration without a slice of pie and some sweet treats for the road! For this NYC Thanksgiving Day Parade Friendsgiving Party, the New York City Taxi Favor Boxes and New York City Skyscraper Favor Boxes couldn't have been a better fit! I designed a favor tag to attach to the top of the taxi cabs to complete the box full of sweet treats.
We all know a Thanksgiving feast usually means leftover pie. To send our friends home with leftovers in style, I also created 3 different designs to top the White Pie Slice Boxes. All of these printable graphics are available for FREE download here.
