The tradition of throwing a gender reveal celebration got popular around 2008 when couples started to take videos of themselves as they saw the results of their ultrasound. These videos were then uploaded to YouTube and started a social craze of filming gender reveals. This tradition has now become something that families and friends have celebrated as an important part of welcoming a new baby into the world.
Gender Reveal Options
There are many ideas out there to make the surprise exciting including colored cupcakes, a "pinata" cake, filling a balloon with blue or pink confetti, or filling a box with helium balloons that mom and dad-to be open to see the balloons fly out in all their pink or blue glory! For this Team Blue vs. Team Pink Gender Reveal Party, I wanted to pull in many of the previously mentioned elements to create a "team" style party. Planning an event like this is so much easier when you can get a majority of the supplies from one source.
Team Blue vs. Team Pink Set-Up I'm sharing this gender reveal DIY party with you so you can get your creative juices flowing and plan your own! Enjoy the photos and the details of this set-up.
I created two dessert tables for this party. On one side I had the TEAM PINK table, and on the other side, TEAM BLUE!
I used these adorable number one lollipops as cupcake toppers on the boy table.
Guests were able to cast votes on what they thought the gender of the baby was. After they voted they took a pink or a blue Personalized Button Pin to wear throughout the party.
I adhered printed letters onto white megaphones and inserted Pom Poms into the top of each cone for added team spirit.
