Superhero Comic Book Party

Superhero Comic Book Party

Calling all superheroes and caped crusaders! Kids (and adults!) who love superheroes will be all over this new line of Comic Book Superhero Supplies party and superhero party ideas! This party is full of modern black & white graphics reminiscent of newspaper headlines and bold, bright primary colors that are characteristic of retro comic books. This birthday party theme is perfect for your little world-saving superheroes in training! Better yet, it can be set up in no time…meaning you get to save the day!

Modern-Superhero-Comic-Book-Party-Party-Content-Two-13Give your little superheroes the grand entrance they deserve. These huge Heroes Letter Cardboard Stand-Ups make a big impact as soon as the kids arrive. Watch guests strike a pose next to them, knock them down, and have a ton of fun. My son Harrison is 12 and still loves superheroes (gets it from his mom!). He loved these so much he kept the 'H' in his room after the party!

Modern-Superhero-Comic-Book-Party-Party-Content-Two-15Once party guests have broken through the "HEROES" letters they'll be ready to save the city.

Have the kids take a seat under the city lights. I used a black tabletop for contrast against a white paper table runner with modern black X's on it. I used a piece of wrapping paper for the runner but instead, you could use a roll of white paper and paint black X's onto it.

Modern-Superhero-Comic-Book-Party-Party-Content-15In the middle of the table I used a modern wire basket as a centerpiece which doubled as a display for Superhero Wristbands and Superhero Popping Hard Candy Fun Packs.

Modern-Superhero-Comic-Book-Party-Article-Content-Doubles-2I loved watching the kids' faces when they tried the popping candy, and I know you'll have the same reaction as well as some fond memories of childhood.

Modern-Superhero-Comic-Book-Party-Article-Content-Doubles-5The Superhero Wristbands were also a firm fan favorite and resulted in lots of superhero poses!

Modern-Superhero-Comic-Book-Party-Article-Content-Doubles-6Flanking the wire basket I added Comic Superhero Trophies that had been spray painted a bright and bold red.

Modern-Superhero-Comic-Book-Party-Party-Content-18I then added Superhero Crayons to the table so kids could draw on both the runner or the Color Your Own Superhero Masks. Place crayon holders cups on top of Comic Superhero Beverage Napkins for a dramatic pop art look.

Modern-Superhero-Comic-Book-Party-Content-Vertical-25Add a small or even large lightning bolt to the backs of seats using removable yellow vinyl to add a subtle superhero nod to your seating.

Modern-Superhero-Comic-Book-Party-Party-Content-14I used DIY Slat Signs as chargers, painted them white and added a repeating pattern of lightning bolts using yellow vinyl. You could also use yellow card stock or yellow markers instead.

Modern-Superhero-Comic-Book-Party-Party-Content-17Next, layer Comic Superhero Paper Dinner Plates and Comic Superhero Paper Dessert Plates with a fabulous Comic Superhero Luncheon Napkin. I topped my setting with a fabulous lightning bolt cookie by Trophy Baking here in Portland.

Finally, I added Comic Superhero Cups with red star straws to complete the table. I'm totally smitten with these fun cups!

To create a statement backdrop for the dessert table, I used a roll of masking tape and a few other simple craft supplies to make a skyline fit for any flying superhero! Find out how to make this DIY Cityscape Backdrop HERE.

On either side of the backdrop I added red star and circle mylar balloons embellished with yellow lightning bolts. Fill the balloons with helium so they fly in the sky above the city then tie them to Black Metallic Balloon Weights with Red Bakers Twine.

Modern-Superhero-Comic-Book-Party-Party-Content-8I used the same wrapping paper on this table as I did on the dining table to tie the two areas together. At the center of the table was a cake stand filled with more fabulous cookies! To each side I added more Comic Superhero Trophies that had been spray painted a bright yellow.

Modern-Superhero-Comic-Book-Party-Party-Content-Two-3Be sure to serve cookies with Comic Superhero Beverage Napkins.

Modern-Superhero-Comic-Book-Party-Party-Content-Two-5Add Comic Superhero Paper Cups for post cookie beverages!

Modern-Superhero-Comic-Book-Party-Party-Content-Three-6The cookies were so fabulous I had to prop them up and display them on cupcake stands with plenty of Comic Superhero Cellophane Bags so the kids could take some home.

Modern-Superhero-Comic-Book-Party-Party-Content-4Next to the table I set up a favor station and photo booth that the kids LOVED. The Comic Superhero Backdrop is like a comic book that's come to life. It's huge and inspires party guests to strike their best superhero  pose!

Modern-Superhero-Comic-Book-Party-Article-Content-Doubles-3Comic Superhero Photo Frame Props were a great addition to make the kids feel like they were part of the comic book itself.

Modern-Superhero-Comic-Book-Party-Party-Content-6A simple rolling cart made a great favor station. I used the wrapping paper as a liner on top of the cart to make the containers on top pop with color!

Modern-Superhero-Comic-Book-Party-Party-Content-Two-6I spray painted the lids of Short and Tall Jars a bright yellow and red, one color for each side of the cart. On top of the larger containers I glued Superhero Stress Toys. I then cut the ring portion off of some Superhero Rings and glued these on top of the smaller containers. Again, Comic Superhero Beverage Napkins made a fantastic statement against the black & white and helped to draw guests' eyes to the goodies inside the containers!

Modern-Superhero-Comic-Book-Party-Party-Content-11I filled the containers with a selection of 4-Color Superhero Crayons, Superhero Stampers, Superhero Pencils with Capes and Superhero Rings. In the center of the cart I used Classroom Storage Baskets and filled these with the larger favor items; Superhero Sunglasses and Superhero Stress Toys.

Modern-Superhero-Comic-Book-Party-Article-Content-Doubles-1I hung DIY Large White Canvas Tote Bags off the cart so the kids could collect all of their goodies. Quickly customize the canvas tote bags with a simple lightning bolt made of black vinyl.

Modern-Superhero-Comic-Book-Party-Party-Content-Three-3The glasses and rings were definitely popular. I think someone may have taken more than their fair share!

Modern-Superhero-Comic-Book-Party-Party-Content-Two-16It's always important to entertain the kids during birthday parties. Their attention is always jumping from activity to activity...am I right? The kids enjoyed coloring in superhero masks and personalizing them with Fabulous Foam Star Glitter Shapes before moving on to playing superheroes.

Modern-Superhero-Comic-Book-Party-Party-Content-Three-7One of my favorite parts of the party was the very strange request for large glue dots....this led to a staged superhero fight with the stress toys. This was all from their own brilliant imaginations! I hope you've found some inspiration for your own superhero themed party in the future. Be sure to see how to make your own DIY Superhero Cityscape Backdrop too!
