Super Science Aprons

Super Science Aprons

I love to have my students practice science concepts we are learning with hands-on activities and experiments, but I often worry about them getting their clothes dirty. Making these super simple aprons will not only make your students feel like scientists, they will help keep their clothes clean!

img_9388test Lay the poster board or newspaper down to cover your work surface. Have your students place an apron (right side up) on the work surface and get started creating! My designs were all science inspired and hand drawn. You could also use the Awesome Alphabet Stencils if your students were worried about their finished product. superscienceaprons-1   I added extra detail around the edges of the "I love Science" apron by drawing dashed lines and by adding two faux pockets. The Science Rocks aprons is one of my favorites--I love how it turned out around the border of the word "rocks". I used the black marker to make it look more rock-like simply by creating hash marks on top of the still wet green lettering. I free-handed a beaker and simply wrote "Science" under it for a simple design that your students could easily replicate. img_9394bright   Of course, I had to create an apron that shares how I feel about Science--"Science is totally AWESOME". This apron design uses each of the colors in the 8 pc. Fabulous Fabric Markers set, so you can see how well they work together. I again made hash marks with the black fabric marker to create this marbled effect. The great thing about these markers is that you don't have to wash/dry or heat set them. Once they are dry on the fabric, you are good to go; and get started on some great Science activities, while not worrying about mess!
