Each year I like to send my students off with resources to use throughout the summer in the hopes that they don’t lose any of the progress they’ve worked so hard to achieve. Check out these ready-to-use options that promote summer reading. Be sure to download the FREE Printables that go with this idea too!
Students will love to write and read this summer using the adorable Summer Reading Mini Spiral Notebooks and Summer Reading Bookmarks. The mini spiral notebooks are the perfect size to stick in a small backpack and take on trips. The Summer Reading Log has places for students to record their summer reading, including minutes. Students can then write and illustrate about what they read to help with comprehension. This booklet is ready to go, with no copies needed! I plan to make a HUGE deal about the reading log with my students as I am handing them out. I'll then offer a sweet reward for anyone who brings it to school next fall filled out. I included a personalized pencil and pencil sharpener for each student to carry in their Reading Canvas Tote Book Bags.
As an end of the year craft, have students create a Smile Face Sun Magnet Craft Kit. Students can then write ways that they will shine this summer. This is a great time to discuss how important it is for students to be reading, writing, and practicing skills throughout the whole summer. Download the FREE 10 Ways to Shine List here.
Send your students off in style with an adorable pair of sun shutter sunglasses. Download the FREE "Your Future Is So Bright" Gift Tag here to customize this cute gift. Students will love to read and shine throughout the summer wearing their very own sunglasses.
I hope I've shared a few ideas to help get your students ready for summer!
