Simple Summer Outdoor Tablescape

Simple Summer Outdoor Tablescape

During the warm summer months, there is nothing I enjoy more than dining outdoors. For a fresh al fresco dining look, use indigo shibori dyed fabrics with crisp white linens and a splash of lemon yellow. This color palette looks modern yet relaxed with a distinct Bohemian vibe. Bold indigo is a fabulous contrast to the greens and florals of your backyard. Your guests will love joining you for this small and intimate dinner party nestled in the heart of your garden.

The Table:

Set the tone with an eye-catching indigo shibori table runner. Don't be afraid to try making one of these yourselves. Find out how to shibori dye napkins here and use the technique for a matching runner.

With the weather so warm I like my guests to enjoy not just their dinner outside, but pre-dinner drinks and nibbles. So, the table is set with small appetizers to start the evening. This Pearsonalized Laurel Leaf Birch Cutting Board is perfect for serving assorted cheeses, fruits and meats. I love how the personalization welcomes my guests to both the table and our home.

To the side of the chopping board I added a White Hobnail Votive Holder and White Cutout Dots Candle Holder for a little candlelight when the sun goes down.

On the other side of the board I incorporated pops of yellow. I love the bright, fun addition yellow brings to the indigo blue and white palette. It screams summer!

Make use of brand packaging for table necessities. I found a yummy beer with the perfect colored labels! The addition of ceramic lemons I had at home completes the look.

Last but not least, I set flowers on the table. I used the Gold Trim Open Top Terrarium (without water) to hold a sweet bouquet full of green & blue tones.

This color combination also pops against the indigo and brings the smell of the garden setting right to the table.

The Place Settings:

The place settings capture the beautiful blue of the indigo and also makes use of plastic dinnerware. Plastics are perfect for outdoor entertaining and make post-party clean up super simple.

I started with a shibori charger then layered with a matching Blue Plastic Dinner Plate and White Elegance Premium Plastic Dessert Plate. On top of the setting was a thoughtful, personalized favor for each guest. Learn how to make a DIY shibori napkin wrapped gift here.

I also placed a White Bamboo Paddle Fan at each setting. This helps keep guests cool and brings a pretty, thoughtful addition to the setting. Next, I added Premium Gold Plastic Cutlery on top of another shibori dyed napkin.

Finally, at each place setting I used a Plastic Wine Glass (no broken glass!) and gave each guest their own Mini Wine Appetizer Carafe.

To keep track of each guest's carafe I stamped Leather Jewelry Tags with their names and tied them on with Gold Bakers Twine.

Above The Table:

If you are lucky enough to have overhanging trees in your backyard, you can get a little more creative with the decor.

The Gold Geometric Hanging Terrariums are a stunning addition to any table setting. They glisten and shine overhead, twisting in the breeze.

I used green craft wire to hang these from the tree branches. They can then be filled with succulents or a selection of fresh flowers that match the table.

Drink Station:

I'm always looking for options to cut down on my time away from guests. I like to avoid having to head inside to top off drinks.

I used both carafes on the table for red wine and a drink station for other beverages. I kept bubbles & non-alcoholic beverages chilled in a clear ice bucket.

At one end of the table I used a small outdoor table. I placed a Gold Round Plastic Serving Plate on it with a draped shibori dyed napkin. This serves as both a decorative element and can be used to wipe down condensation or drips from the bottle.

The Gold Foil Dot Paper Cups were also placed here and are perfect for serving non-alcoholic beverages and water.

To keep the champagne cold, I used a Clear Ice Bucket and added edible flowers to the ice cubes as decoration.

Summer-Shibori-Indigo-Tablescape-Ice-BucketI hope you enjoy this Shibori inspired tablescape as much as my guests and I did. Cheers to summer!
