The snow is melting, days are getting warmer, the flowers are blooming and the birds are chirping. There are so many beautiful things happening around us, so why not use this to our advantage and teach our little ones all about spring? Let's celebrate by having a spring celebration with meaningful learning centers. Here are some ideas to kick off the new season in your classroom.
Dress up your classroom with items that evoke thoughts of spring like pastel colors, flowers decorations, butterflies, etc. Use Garden Hanging Fans to set up your main area. You can also hang these fans all around your classroom.
Having meaningful, fun, and hands-on centers during this time of year is essential. You can plan to have your students rotate through each center in small groups to make the process easier and give everyone time to enjoy every learning station.
Coloring Station
In this center, students will use Sharpie Markers to color their own Spring Slap Bracelets, Easter Necklaces and Easter Eggs. They'll also enjoy making their own Easter Bead Necklaces. This center not only supports their creativity, but it also allows them to practice and use their fine motor skills.
Game Station
You can't have learning centers without including a fun little game station to keep the kids entertained! Will the winner be bunnies or chicks? Instead of using the typical X's and O's, use these Easter-Themed Tic-Tac-Toe Games. Your kids will surely have a blast at this center!
Learn About a Chicken's Life Cycle
Spring is the perfect season to learn all about the different life cycles. In this center, students will learn all about the life cycle of a chicken using the Life Cycle Sticker Scene Assortment. They'll also explore a chick's life cycle a bit further by using this Chick Life Cycle Exploration Set. Students will crack open a set of 21 eggs and see the day-by-day development of a chick. This center will invite children to make hands-on connections to life science and life cycles. Children can draw and write their observations and what they learned about the life cycle of a chicken in their journals.
Plant Life Cycle
The plant life cycle is always a fun science unit to teach during this time of year. Students love learning about nature, planting and growth. Your class will learn all about the life cycle of a plant in a hands-on way using the Life of a Plant Sticker Scene Assortment. The kids also LOVE digging in and getting their hands dirty when they plant a seed themselves. The children will plant their seeds in their very own seed pots and can then observe their plants grow day by day.
