Spring is in the air and I have a feeling that everyone is getting ready to tend to their gardens. I wanted to inspire you with some Spring clay pot ideas! Two of my favorite clay pot products are the DIY square flowerpots and the DIY ceramic flowerpots. The square flower pots have an attached base and a hole for drainage. The round pots are without a base and do have a hole for drainage but you could easily drill a small hole in the base. These pots are a blank canvas ready for you to decorate! Here are six of my clay pot Spring projects to give you a little creative push:

decoupage is just a fancy word for crafting with paper cut outs. The first idea is to choose your favorite paper napkins. Oriental Trading has a large variety of Spring napkins to get you started. You simply cut your napkins into pieces and use mod podge (a type of glue) to attach the napkin to the pot. Mod podge is a sealant, so it should keep your paper napkin design safe. Another decoupage idea would be to use tissue paper squares and apply them with the mod podge. Make sure to use a foam brush and “gently” cover the paper or it will tear.

I love this pot! It takes a little time but the end result is beautiful. You can use acrylic paint to paint your pot a base color or you can leave the pot the natural clay finish. Once your pot dries, cover the part you want to tile with Mod Podge®. Then press the plastic pastel mosaic tiles into the glue and allow to dry. Pretty easy right?

Kids just love to make their pots look like bugs! What better bug than a ladybug. You will need red and black acrylic paint and some large googly eyes. Using a pencil, trace the pattern for your ladybug body. This will break up the parts you will paint. Once the base is painted, have your kids use their fingerprints to make the black ladybug dots. Glue on the googly eyes.

Sharpies are one of my favorite crafting tools. Use a variety of colors of sharpies to draw a design on your clay pot. The clay soaks up the ink from the sharpie real well.

To give the pot a sandy finish, I covered the pot in mod podge and sprinkled white craft sand onto the glue. Once pot has dried, decorate with pot with starfish and/or sea shells.
