What kind of party do you throw for a tween? My oldest son is turning 12 and I wanted to throw him a sports-themed birthday party that wasn’t too juvenile. We decided to pick several sports like baseball, basketball, football, and soccer. My son and his friends all play competitive sports and I wanted to include all of their favorite passtimes. I struggled to come up with an overall concept that would work while including all of these sports. Finally, I landed on a The Ultimate Snack Bar setup where we served food, drinks, and memorabilia. This was so much fun and I couldn’t be more excited to share it with you!
Snack Bar Food for the Win We kept this party pretty simple and included a few snack bar favorites like popcorn, pretzels, and our special faux corn dogs. We also included other sweet treats like delicious cupcakes and cookies from Kyra's Bake Shop.
Make sure to check out the full recipe and tutorial for these Faux Corn Dogs. They are easy to make and a real crowd-pleaser. The kids couldn't get enough of them!
I'm just loving these sports themed fondant cupcake toppers. They fit the theme perfectly and every kid could grab their favorite sport!
A snack bar wouldn't be complete without assorted boxes of candy too. We also included Big League chew, which is a must-have! There really was something for everyone and unlike traditional snack bars, this didn't cost an arm and a leg!
Snack bars always have a fun assortment of cold drinks. We went with organic soda and just removed the labels and added these Ultimate Sports Drink labels. Aren't they cute?
Memorabilia + Party Favors I always love going to a concession stand or snack bar and checking out all the sports swag. Too bad it's usually really expensive! We thought it would be fun to include all the party favors in the form of sports memorabilia. We allowed our guests to take whatever party favors they wanted. They had so much fun!
This Sport Cup Assortment was a fan favorite too. The kids could all have their own cup to use throughout the party. I didn't have to worry about spills either. Even tweens still tend to spill.
The boys really loved these School Spirit Green Foam Fingers. They make great photo props and I am excited to sport these at their upcoming sporting events.
I was seriously re-thinking giving out these Kids' Whistles. The kids loved them, my ears on the other hand are getting old and so I made these outside use only! Another favorite was these Go Team Black Sunglasses. The boys wore these around during the entire party!
We were all loving these Realistic Sport Stress Balls. They are nice and squishy and small enough for the kids to play with in the house. We even used them in our Knock Down Sports Game below!
Activities Since this was a winter birthday and we needed an indoor activity, we created this Knock Down Sports Game. Make sure you check out the full tutorial!
It wouldn't be a sporting event if the kids didn't get an All Access Pass to the big event! Each kid had their own pass with their name on it plus, they could add in their favorite sport with these Silvertone Sport Ball Floating Charms. Check out how to make your own All Access Sports Badges here.
Look at these happy tween faces! Can you tell they had a great time at our All Sports Birthday Party? Your kids will enjoy this too and it won't break the bank!
