What is Halloween without some spider decorations? This Spider Trunk or Treat Idea takes spider decorations to the next level by transforming your car into a giant spider. DIY Spider Legs adorn the sides of the car as the base of the spider sits on the top. You can make this easily using the Spider Trunk or Treat Decorating Kit.
Before you start decorating the trunk, you'll want to make the DIY Spider Legs ahead of time. These spider legs are made so they are completely customizable to your car, van or truck. Simply measure ahead of time the distance from the top of your vehicle to the ground and add another 1/2 of that measurement to the overall length of legs you need to make. Each leg is comprised of two leg "segments". You'll use a Black Craft Noodle, garden stake, hot glue, Black Boas and heavy duty craft or floral wire to construct the spider legs. See the full tutorial on how to make the DIY Spider Legs.
To cover the inside of the trunk, use a Black Plastic Tablecloth Roll to cover the bottom, sides and back of the trunk so the inside of the trunk is completely black and no seats are seen. You can use clear packing tape or Gorilla® Tape to adhere the decorations to the car. Cover the top of the trunk with the black tablecloth roll as well so set the scene for the spider that will sit on the top.
Next, layer in the Stretchable Spider Webs. Stretch the spider webs to cover the entire trunk from top to bottom. You'll want to cover the bumper, the entire inside of the trunk and the top of the trunk. Once the spider web is in place, attach the Hanging Honeycomb Spider Decorations in various places around the web. Add an ultra scary Hairy Spider with Light-Up Eyes to the back of the trunk next to your hand-outs as people stop by.
Once the base of the trunk is all covered, next add the Jumbo Spider Lawn Bag Halloween Decoration to the top of the car. You can fill the bag with fall leaves to give it shape.
Once the spider is secured to the top of the trunk, attach the Large Chenille Spider Web to the back of the trunk and stretch out across the ground along the back of the car.
Dress the part as you hand out Halloween treats with a Witch Costume. Kids who are helping out would have fun dressing up as a Tarantula.
Hand out some fun spider-themed Halloween hand-outs with this Spider Trunk or Treat Idea. Fill a Spider Web Basket with Black Spider Tattoos, Spider Rings, Spider Spin Tops and Halloween Candy Fun Packs. You can also pre-fill hand-outs in a Halloween Drawstring Tote Bag.
With potential social distancing measures in place with your trunk or treat this year, there are lots of ways to make trunk or treat still fun and safe for everyone! To keep separate from each of the cars, build stanchions to encourage distance between everyone. Those who are handing out candy can use these grabbers to avoid picking up the candy and Halloween themed masks to keep everyone safe. Hand sanitizer can be available too so that everyone keeps their hands clean.
