Blast off into a galaxy of fun with an Out of This World Space Party! If your kids are anything like ours they love outer space and all of the intergalactic fun that comes along with it. We transformed our ordinary birthday party into a celestial sensation with some outer space-inspired decorations, interplanetary DIY crafts, and galactic recipe ideas!
We wanted our outer space birthday party to reflect the true essence of the cosmos, which meant plenty of bold colors, planetary details, rockets and stars! We incorporated these elements into our kids' table and our dessert display table to get our little astronauts ready to blast off into a day of solar system fun!
The Kids' Table: Bold, futuristic themes inspired our kids' table, which was layered in a Lime Green Plastic Table Cloth Roll and an Outer Space Plastic Tablecloth which we used as a table runner.
The Place Settings: We wanted each place setting to have a unique feel, so each setting rested upon a different planet Space Party Cut Out.
For a modern look, Space Party Paper Dinner Plates and Space Party Paper Dessert Plates were stacked upon Silver Paper Chargers.
Coordinating Space Party Paper Cups sat at each setting and had the perfect matching Space Party Paper Straws.
We loved the tiny planet details on each straw! Beside each plate we displayed a Space Party Luncheon Napkins, a bright Orange Plastic Fork and a sweet surprise; a rocket ship Outer Space Character Lollipop.
Lastly, upon each set of plates sat the most adorable Space Party Favor Boxes! We love when favor boxes can be part of the decor and hold cute themed party favors.
The Centerpiece: We absolutely love easy to assemble products like cupcake stands. Not only do they make a statement and help to set the scene but they are so versatile and can display almost any kind of sweet treat. We used two of these solar system Space Party Rocket Cupcake Stands but modified one to accommodate our grocery store birthday cake! We simply left off the top level and sat our cake in the middle of the stand resting upon a spare dinner plate.
We then dressed up our basic cake with some outer space details and an extra Space Party Favor Box. Voila! Instant centerpiece and dessert without breaking the bank!
We also displayed Bright Polka Dot Favor Boxes for guests to bring home extra sweets, like our Galaxy Cookie Bark Recipe. We love the colorful polka dots on these favor boxes and added a cute planet detail using spare Space Party Cupcake Picks!
The Backdrop and Dessert Display: An outer space party calls for a custom and unique galaxy inspired backdrop, so we got busy creating the DIY backdrop using plenty of space inspired supplies.
The printed Space Galaxy Backdrop was the perfect way to set the scene but we wanted to bring even more space elements into our backdrop, so we hung up an Inflatable Solar System from a backdrop stand using some fishing line.
We added in the perfect Inflatable Space Shuttle exploring our suspended solar system!
We wanted to carry the bold colors from our backdrop down into our dessert display. A Lime Green Plastic Table Cloth Roll and Outer Space Plastic Tablecloth were the base for our display.
Green jello alien cups were displayed on the fully assembled Space Party Rocket Cupcake Stand which rested in the center of our dessert table and added some additional color to our backdrop.
The Sweets: A birthday party means lots of sweet treats and we went all out with our space treats! We whipped up some alien jello cups with adorable Space Party Cupcake Picks and displayed them on our stand.
Beside the cupcake stand sat the perfect planetary inspired lollipops, which rested in a custom-made lollipop stands. We added some extra planet details from spare cupcake picks.
We whipped up our tasty Galaxy Cookie Bark Recipe and displayed it in Space Party Luncheon Napkin lined Lime Green Candy Buckets with a trimmed rocket ship adhered to the front. This easy, no bake recipe is full of chocolaty goodness, colorful designs and sprinkles!
We added a Space Party Cupcake Pick and some Outer Space Character Lollipops to our recipe for the perfect touch.
The Activities: Our little space explorers had plenty to do during the party. Everyone looked the part with these adorable Inflatable Jet Packs, perfect for space exploration, imaginative play and dress up! These jet packs really got the creative juices flowing and had the kids delving right into outer space play!
We also kept our astronauts busy with a creative DIY UFO Space Craft! This craft is so fun because kids can get creative building their very own UFO space craft. Not only did the kids enjoy building this super adorable craft but they spent hours playing with their creations afterwards and loved bringing them home for more play time!
