When my soon to- be 7-year-old asked for a Shopkins birthday party, I was more than happy to oblige! What is it about those tiny, colorful little toys with the cute faces that make kids go crazy? I have to admit, I am pretty obsessed with them too. My daughter and I spend hours playing with those little guys and creating a tiny Shopkins world. So when her birthday rolled around, I was in full Shopkins party mode and was ready to throw her a Shopkins party she'd never forget! By having all the Shopkins party supplies in one place it was easy for me to find everything I needed from the place settings to favors and even Shopkins costumes.
Creating a fabulous backdrop doesn't need to cost a lot of money. For this backdrop, I simply hung up a Shopkins plastic tablecloth and then created a two popcorn boxes out of mini tri-fold display boards. The white display boards instantly became popcorn boxes when I added a few strips of red paper to them. I loved the idea of popcorn popping out of the boxes so I used a celebration arch and attached yellow and white balloons to create the effect of popcorn spilling out over the boxes.
Party hats are a must-have for any celebration and the kids loved these cute Shopkins themed ones. I'm pretty sure a few moms even donned these festive party hats during the party!
I created a fun grocery store game for the little party guests and it was a HUGE hit! I found tiny shopping carts and each guest received their very own at the beginning of the game. The kids took their Shopkins shopping cart to the "store" and had a blast shopping for different items throughout the game.
For each station in our grocery game, I used Shopkins photo booth props. I attached each prop to a cake plate and placed the coordinating goodies on top of the plate. The first stop in our grocery store game was the bakery. The kids each placed one of these cute and colorful plush donuts to their grocery cart and made their way to the next station.
Next stop was the produce section with green mini twisty lollipops. I know I should have had apples for this section, I mean it IS the produce section after all. But what's a birthday party if it's not completely riddled with sugar?
Here we are at the makeup counter! Lippy Lips is showing off the latest and greatest in lipstick colors with lots of pinks, purples and reds.
As much as my daughter and her friends love dressing up and getting into Mom's makeup bag, I wasn't about to give out real lipstick at the party. I found these darling lipstick pens that the kids went crazy over. Pens are always a great party favor, especially ones in the shape of lipstick!
Freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, coming right up! Kookie Cookie handed out delicious cookies to the happy kids which were immediately devoured. This little party favor did not make it into any of the grocery carts!
We're now at the ice cream section. Although the Shopkins prop is a cupcake, we'll pretend it's ice cream. The kids won't care, I promise. Here, kids picked out their favorite sweet treat. I filled the cake plate with treat erasers and the kids thought they were the cutest little things!
Here's a closer peek at the ice cream erasers. Those tiny ice cream cones are the sweetest!
After each child went through the grocery store, they all sat in a circle and played with all their fun treasures!
When it comes to parties, I am all about quick and easy ideas. I purchased the cake from the store and added a few Shopkins details to quickly personalize it! The Shopkins decorating kit came with table centerpieces that I easily turned into cake toppers. I simply attached sticks to the back of the centerpieces and placed them into the cake. I topped the cake with swirl lollipops as well as aqua and pink gumballs. Place the lovely cake on top of a ceramic cake stand and you're all set! The cake turned out so cute and the birthday girl was in Shopkins heaven!
I made these sweet Shopkins inspired no-sew felt bean bags that the kids had a blast with. The goal of the game was to see how far you could get your bean bag into these fun and colorful sand buckets. The farther away the bucket is, the more points it's worth. This fun game kept the kids busy for a long time! Click HERE for the tutorial on how to make your own adorable felt bean bags.
Mini Shopkins inspired piñatas were filled with treats and Shopkins favors as prizes for the kids after the bean bag game. These make fun and unique party prizes that the kids are sure to adore. Click HERE for the tutorial on how to make your own mini piñatas.
