Pirate Party Guests

It just wouldn't be a pirate Halloween party without lots of skeleton pirates, now would it?

Our sea captain pirate skeleton was dressed for the occasion with a pirate hat, pistol, and rhinestone ring. He even brought his favorite parrot skeleton along on his shoulder! Decorating this guy was pretty easy since he already came with a hook hand, peg leg, striped bandana and red sash.

I made a big stash of pirate booty by taking a gold tablecloth and hot gluing over 1,000 shiny gold coins over the top of it. It was a lot of work, but I LOVE the effect! It looks like the pirate is keeping watch over all his plundered gold. A fern garland looks just like seaweed when draped across the stash of gold coins.

Our second pirate skeleton was dressed in his pirate bandana and sat with a bottle of his best rum and his large cutlass sword.

Our last life size posable skeleton rocked his white pirate shirt and was stationed behind his treasure chest filled with treasure.

Pirate Grub

Any seadog who's sailed the seven seas has worked up an appetite, so we served pirate grub fresh from the galley that's witty and on theme.

A metal treasure chest that I already owned was placed on a large gold cake stand and filled with foam blocks covered in burlap.

A wood bowl held chocolate "cannonballs", otherwise known as Whoppers candy.

Pirate lollipops were cleverly served in a piece of wood that I spray painted white and drilled holes into to hold the lollipops up. You can see this DIY holder in action in our Mermaid First Birthday Party.

A skeleton hand drink dispenser was filled with a pirate's favorite beverage - rum! Or in our case, apple juice. The "rum" was placed on a large wood box to elevate it and make it easier for guests to get their drinks. A pirate sword stood under the rum container. I labeled each pirate food with a chalkboard label and white vinyl that I cut using my Cricut machine.

The table was covered with a black tablecloth, then layered with a natural fish net over the top. Large palm fronds added to the tropical feel of the table as did scattered pirate coins, pearl necklaces, rhinestone rings, and skull rings. Drawstring pirate bags filled with various treasures were placed on the table too.

One of my favorite parts of the entire party was the Skeleton Pirate Ship Wheel I made. I wanted it to look like an old ship's wheel, but with a spooky pirate vibe!

A tattered pirate flag fluttered in the sea wind behind the table. I used hot glue to attach the flag to an old wood pole we had. I love that it looks like this pirate flag has been blowing there for years!

Pirate Dining Table

A lovely mermaid skeleton sang her siren song in front of the table. She was all dressed up with a blonde wig, a leaf top, a barrette made from seashells, and pearl necklaces.

A bamboo sign warned others to "Enter if ye dare."

Setting an incredible on-theme pirate table for guests is easy. I started with some burlap to create the base tablecloth. Next, I Iayered large black creepy cloth over the burlap, then added a fish net over the top of that to create multiple layers. Each place setting consisted of a gold charger, a tropical green leaf, a black dinner plate, and a pirate dessert plate.

A pirate pail was filled with sand and gold utensils and placed on a black and white striped napkin at each place setting. Sand-filled coconut cups held black velvet pirate bags filled with pirate booty.
