Sink your teeth into our JAW-SOME shark party! Who knew the ocean's most ferocious predator could be so completely adorable? With under-the-sea elements, plenty of shark fins and sweet treats in tow, this shark-inspired summer birthday party sure is some-FIN special!
The Tablescape:
We set the scene with a color palette that included a mix of ombre blues, gray and white for a modern feel. The kids dining table was set with a gray table cloth that was topped with a natural cotton fish net for a fun ocean-inspired detail.
Lastly, a jaw-some plastic table cloth was draped down the center of the table to create a colorful seaside style runner. We loved how just the shark fins and waves were popping out!
The Place Settings:
We wanted unique and modern place settings that were still playful and kid-friendly while remaining stylish.
We whipped up some quick DIY charger plates by adding a jute cord detailing around the edge of a white plastic dinner plate. Each DIY charger was then topped with coordinating Coastal Seaside dinner and dessert plates.
Resting upon each dinner plate was a sweet shark piggy bank which served as a party favor. Each shark bank was painted white to really pop again the coastal seaside plates. The kids loved this element and couldn't wait to take this adorable treasure home.
Each place setting also had a molded jaw-some shark cup which we filled with a blue tropical punch! The kids loved sipping out of these character cups!
Beside each place setting sat a blue napkin topped with a themed character lollipop and a darling stuffed shark party favor. These were a huge hit and our tiny shark enthusiasts loved imagining they were swimming with the sharks!
Simple Chair Backers:
To add a little extra shark imagery with little fuss, we displayed some shark tote bags on the back of each guest's chair. These adorable bags are pulling double duty by acting not only as chair backers and cute decor, but our birthday guests were also able to stick their sweets, treats and party favors in the bags too!
The Centerpiece:
The centerpiece of any table is always one of the main focal points and should tie in directly to your party theme. In keeping with our sharktastic theme, we wanted guests to feel like our centerpiece had come to life! What better way to do that than by making it look like sharks are swimming across our table?
The jawsome table cloth served as the perfect body of water for our sharks to swim in! We spaced out three shark fin accessories going down the table and filled them with blue tissue paper to ensure they would both stand on their own and have a 3-D look.
Lastly, we added a few "circling" magic scratch sharks to our shark infested waters for an extra detail!
The Backdrop:
We wanted our guests to get the full under-the-sea experience and felt our backdrop should mimic that. We layered and twisted two different colors of jumbo streamers (ice blue and sapphire blue) to create the illusion of moving water.
We then added additional magic scratch sharks so it appeared as though sharks were swimming through our backdrop water.
A DIY Sign Detail:
Shark infested water should always bear a warning! We created this adorable sign warning our guests about the sharks below. Plain wood slat planks were painted with a variety of colors to create a weathered driftwood appearance.

The Dessert Bar:
Our dessert bar was layered in colors that coordinated with our dining table. A gray plastic table cloth was topped with a jawsome plastic table runner.
Across the front of the table we added an ombre tassel garland which we created using multiple tassel garlands (mint, blue, white and silver mylar).
In the center of the table, a stacked cake sat upon a white cake stand along with some mini blue cupcakes.
Additional cupcakes on pedestals flanked each side of the cake and were the perfect size for little hands.
We wanted to create a unique and delicious ocean-themed dessert. Our kids love Jell-O so knew the kids would just love a Jell-O Shark Dessert Jar!
We created these adorable dessert jars with simple ingredients such as Jell-O and whipped cream. We then combined them with yummy shark candy bracelets and shark tooth necklaces all inside of a mason jar!
One of the cutest details of this dessert were the shark fin spoons we made. This took only a few seconds per spoon and added a really fun element! We simply trimmed the shark fins off of any excess magic scratch sharks and adhered them to our navy blue spoons with a bit of hot glue!

Party Activities:
We made sure our shark enthusiasts were kept busy with a fun and oh-so-cute party craft that had them looking like the cutest sharks we have ever seen! The party guests loved creating their very own DIY Shark Party Hats! These party hats are so cute and can be made in any color! With a little bit of paint, glitter and felt you can easily recreate these shark-tastic party hat favors at home!
