Our Girls Nautical Birthday Party was set against the beautiful Oregon Coast backdrop. Shooting on location has some challenges. Can we say wind, sand blowing everywhere, and sun that just didn't want to cooperate with me? At any rate, I am happy to share with you a fun take on the traditional nautical theme. Our color palette included the traditional colors of navy and white, but we also added in shades of pink and mint green and touches of gold.
The Invites Our invitations were mailed in clique Message in a Bottle fashion. They were filled with Pink Sand and adored with Natural Jute Cording and a darling Goldtone Anchor Charm. How fun are these? 
Adorable Drinks It's easy to dress up your beverages by adding a few unique touches. We used anchors, life savers, and jute as decorations throughout. We added a Gold Foil Striped Paper Straw and Anchor Stir Stick to garnish our drink. Simply add some Natural Jute Cording and a Wintogreen Mint for even more embellishment. I'm a huge fan of layering different textures. I love the look of all of these items together. 
Let's Eat Cake! Birthday cakes are so yummy, but are also beautiful too. They can be a statement piece and the focal point of your dessert table. Plus, they are an easy way to add height to your table. We choose a smaller two tier cake featuring fun nautical detailing like a large anchor, stripes, and meticulous rope detailing. This has to be one of my favorite cakes thus far. This incredible cake was designed by the talented staff at Kyra's Bake Shop. It's a sugar masterpiece! 
Mini popcorn boxes are perfect for parties. You don't have to limit their use to just popcorn either. We used these Nautical Girl Popcorn Box and filled them with powdered donuts. Donuts are a simple party treat that kids love. Plus, they won't break the bank. I always try to buy things that will give me the biggest bang for my buck. Donuts in any form are the perfect dessert for your next party. 
Miniature desserts are perfect for any gathering. These are Cheesecake Shooters with a fun fondant detail. You won't want to miss our easy to follow tutorial on how to make these for your next event. 
Did you see my post on how to Throw a Pineapple Party? This DIY Slate Sign is great to have around and if you decorate it with vinyl, then it's super easy to change for each of your parties. Just peel off the vinyl and start again. This sign is going to be one of my party staples from now on. 
I couldn't help, but get in the party spirit. I got my nails done to match our Nautical party theme. Serving these desserts with my fancy nails made them taste even better. 
Adding in gummy candy is a fun way to incorporate your party theme. They come in a variety of colors, sizes, and shapes. You can even buy them in bulk or order online. Throw them in a pretty compote and you are good to go. 
I know we already discussed adding other food items to these popcorn boxes. You can also dress up these Mini Navy Popcorn Boxes with a matching label. Add a fun saying like "Life Preservers" and they will fit your party theme perfectly. 
Have I told you how much I love party favors? My love language it totally gifts, if you couldn't tell. Plus, I love putting together party favors. I started off by using a Nautical Wedding Cello Bag and filled it with Mini DIY Sand Buckets, Seashell Fun Packs, Nautical Girl Sunglasses, and a Nautical Girl Character Sucker. Add a thank you tag with a cute saying and you are all set. I loved having the shovels on the outside of the bags too. 
Even when you add in a colorful beverage, these bottles still look awesome! Serve them with a Nautical Girl Beverage Napkin and a Light Pink Dessert Plate. 
Here is the full party setup. It wasn't exactly what I had envisioned, but with the weather conditions you wouldn't even know that I was battling 25 mph winds. It's always important to remember that there might be things out of your control when you are throwing a party. Sometime you just have to roll with them. Though I would have preferred to be on the beach with Haystack Rock in the distance, I had to settle for this location so everything didn't blow away.
