Yee-haw! It’s time to put on your cowboy boots and spurs and head to the wild west! That’s right, we’re headed to Texas for our next destination. Throughout the school year our school is traveling the world with our theme “The World Is at Your Fingertips.” Last month we traveled to Paris, France and this month our school is taking a trip to Texas! Luckily, you can easily transform your school entrance into a western rodeo with a Texas-themed bulletin board and display.
When I think of Texas I think of cowboys, horses, and all things rustic. I tried to encompass all of these things into a western-themed bulletin board to display in the entryway of my school. I got my inspiration for this Texas bulletin board after finding these Galvanized Lantern Candle Holders (do not use open flame candles with this product). Can you get anymore rustic than that? I arranged the table in front of the bulletin board with Tissue Balls in red, black, and white. I gave the table a true Texas feel by adding some Horseshoe Confetti!
I decorated my table using a Red Bandana Print Table Skirt. I love how my DIY bandana garland ties everything together and really makes the table skirt stand out. I used Natural Jute Roll and Classic Navy Bandanas to create this easy DIY garland. Oriental Trading has a number of patterns and color choices in bandanas to fit any classroom party or activity.
To create my western-themed bulletin board, I covered the back of my bulletin board with Fadeless® Weathered Wood Paper Roll. I tried to stay with a black, red, and white color theme for my bulletin board as well. The Dotted Swirl Chalkboard Bulletin Board Borders and Red Chevron Bulletin Board Borders really tied the colors together and gave the bulletin board the rustic look I was going for. The cowboy and cowgirl clip art from Melonheadz Illustrating fit perfectly with my school theme destination.
Oriental Trading has a variety of cardboard stand-ups that add a realistic touch to any classroom or school entryway. The Hay Bale Cardboard Stand-Ups, Windmill Cardboard Stand-Up, Split Rail Fence Post Cardboard Stand-Up, and Cow Cardboard Stand-Up make this bulletin board come to life. Plus, my students love them, too! I added some final touches to my bulletin board by incorporating the Cowboy Garland and by adding Red and Black Tissue Hanging Fans.
These bandana gift bags are the perfect way to get your students excited about our latest destination for our school theme. Each Mini Red Treat Bag contains a Classic Navy Bandana and a Deputy Sheriff Badge. These gift bags are a great way to reward students for all their hard work, or create a friendly competition between classes. I displayed these bags on a DIY Large Wood Tray that can be delivered to the winning classroom and/or students.
Where Will We Travel Next?
Where, oh where will our next destination be? Perhaps you'll just have to wait and see! The last destination in our school theme is composed entirely of islands. So put on your flower lei and grab your sunscreen, it's going to be a beautiful sight to see! Aloha for now!
