Santa Claus is coming to town, so why not have him be the star of your Christmas decor this year? This Santa Claus themed tree and decorated buffet is full of sweet Santa detail along with pops of buffalo plaid. From DIY Santa Ornaments, to a simple Santa Claus Wreath and pair of DIY Santa Stockings, there are lots of fun pieces of decor you can make yourself. Incorporate some honeycomb details such as these honeycomb Christmas trees and a giant Santa bag of gifts by the tree for a playful touch.
Santa Claus Christmas Tree
The star of the room is our Christmas tree decked out with all things Santa! I started with our 7 ft. tall flocked Christmas tree and hung a package of 20 red bulb ornaments and 20 white bulb ornaments to serve as the base for the themed ornaments. Then I added a variety of Santa Claus ornaments including these Classic Santa Ornaments, Vintage Santa Christmas Ornaments, and these Chalkboard Look Christmas Ornaments. Don't forget Santa's boots, Santa's suit, and Santa's hat!I finished the tree by wrapping around two rolls of buffalo plaid ribbon as garland and topping the tree with a Santa hat instead of the traditional star. I covered the base of the tree with a buffalo plaid tree skirt.
DIY Santa Ornaments
You can also make some cute Santa ornaments to add to your tree. Check out my 5 Simple DIY Santa Ornament Ideas including a Santa ornament made from a Papier-MÃché Star Ornament, a mini Santa using yarn pom-poms, a Santa's belt ornament with clear disc ornaments, Santa's boot using mini stockings, and a Santa snow globe ornament. Each of these ideas can be made in minutes. You can find the tutorial steps and full list of supplies here.
Santa Claus Wall Art
Next to the tree, I decorated our buffet with a variety of Santa themed decor including this Here Comes Santa Claus Wood Wall Sign, along with a Fresh Cut Christmas Trees Sign hung on the wall. This wall decor would look great hung over a fireplace mantel as well.
For a simple way to display a few Santa ornaments, I painted a small wood wire frame with red craft paint and hung a Vintage Santa Ornament, Chalkboard Ornament, and Buffalo Plaid Santa Ornament using mini clothespins.
DIY Santa Claus Wreath
Next to the wall art I hung a sweet DIY Santa Claus Wreath. It was so easy to make using a 12" foam wreath, Cheery Santa Christmas Paper Plate, honeycomb hat and white pom-poms. You can find the full list of supplies and step-by-step tutorial here. I used 3M Command Strips to hang the wreath on the wall.
Buffet Decor
I decorated the top of the buffet with several honeycomb Christmas trees along with Snowy Pine Picks, sprigs of faux berries and wood slices to vary the height. I incorporated some wrapped gifts topped off with a buffalo plaid ribbon bow.
I also made a vignette of snow filled terrariums using this glass jar set, craft snow, Santa pop-ups and sisal trees and used a box and wood slice coasters to vary the heights of the jars.
Off to the side of the buffet, I added a buffalo plaid throw pillow to a dining chair to carry the plaid look throughout the room.
DIY Santa Stockings
On the front of the buffet I hung a pair of DIY Santa Claus Stockings. This is an easy no-sew project using a red stocking, felt and yarn pom-poms. You can find the tutorial and downloadable template here.
Don't forget to put Santa's big red sack of gifts by the tree! This plush Santa also makes a sweet addition tucked in the bag or under the tree.
