Celebrate your little slugger's love of the game while paying tribute to Smalls, Benny the Jet, the Great Hambino, Squints and the rest of the gang with this Sandlot Inspired Birthday Party. Brimming with baseball inspired decor, retro Americana decorations and a concession stand full of all of your favorite ball park treats, this party will be one your guests remember forever. For.Ev.Er. Forever.
After the birthday ballplayers have hit their home runs, rounded the bases and out-run the baseball-hoarding Beast, have them slide into a smorgasbord of sandlot-inspired treats!
The Snacks:
There's no better way to start the snacking than with a classic ballpark hot dog.
Hot dogs were served on Paper Hot Dog Trays and displayed on a Shiplap Buffet Riser.
Next, you can curb those munchies with a bag of freshly popped popcorn served in red and white striped Paper Popcorn Bags. These bags made for an easy takeaway treat for kids and parents alike!
Vanilla ice cream was housed in Plastic Soda Shop Glasses for a retro feel. We provided Coca-Cola® bottles so our sluggers could make their own Coke floats. This was a super tasty and refreshing treat after playing ball in the hot sun.
The ice cream floats were displayed on a larger, Shiplap Buffet Riser along with a Personalized Mini Baseball Bat with the iconic quote, "Legends Never Die," From The Babe himself.
We also provided Glass Carafes with Baseball Sports Drink Bottle Labels that we customized with one of our favorite quotes from the movie, "You're Killin' Me, Smalls!"
And you can't have a Sandlot-inspired party and not incorporate s'mores! As the Great Hambino taught us, "First you take the graham. Then you stick the chocolate on the graham. And then you roast the mallow. And when the mallow's flaming, you stick it on the chocolate. Then you cover it with the other graham. And then you stuff it."
We made miniature s'mores and placed them on top of vanilla cupcakes and displayed them in Plastic Baseball Cups for a fun treat.
The Decor:
Our Sandlot-inspired concessions stand was placed in front of a backdrop made of Wood-Tone Shiplap Bulletin Board Fadeless Paper that was detailed with the movie's title out of Yellow Cardstock using our Cricut Cutting Machine.
We added a DIY Pennant that we painted Navy Blue and added the name Smalls to pay homage to the movie's lead character.
The other side was flanked with three Baseball Hanging Fans.
The backdrop was surrounded by a balloon garland made up of Red, White, Blue, Metallic Blue and Light Blue Latex Balloons.
We added in some thematic decor to our table by displaying a Baseball Beanbag Toss Game, a Baseball Glove and Ball and a Letter Board customized with our favorite quote of the movie from Squints himself, "For-ev-er. Forever."
We rounded out the decor with a Concessions Banner that was strung across the front of the table and Baseball Treat Bags that were filled with a variety of Baseball-Themed Favors, including Baseball Pencils customized with another favorite quote "This kid is an L-7 Weenie!"
Luckily for us, our party had no L7 weenies in attendance; just a bunch of ballplayers with a love of the game and The Sandlot.
