The rustic style is all the rage right now! Teachers are bringing that farmhouse look into their classroom and I knew I had to jump on board! Shiplap and wood style bulletin board paper, wood crates, metal buckets, and chalkboard accents were just a few items that made my classroom have the perfect rustic feel to it!
I started my classroom makeover in my library area. My classroom library is one of my students' favorite areas. I knew the rustic decor would make it feel even more like home for them. I added some wood crates to the book shelves to feature non-fiction texts. The galvanized pail was perfect for me to add my current favorite chapter books for easy student access. I made a 4 poster collage from the rustic classroom poster pack above the bookshelves. Another oval galvanized bucket was used to hold bookmarks. I added the succulents to the window sill to incorporate some greenery into the room.
The white shiplap paper and wood plank paper worked perfectly as the backdrops for my bulletin boards. For some boards I used colored ribbon as the trim, but the turquoise scalloped border combined with the burlap was a great addition too.
Near my stations area I added another rustic poster as well as this kraft paper roll. I plan to use it for positive classroom quotes throughout the year! The mini clothespins are another small touch to hold up bulletin board letters. I placed these metal pails around the room to hold various supplies. I always like to have a bulletin board for new vocabulary words in our units. This board was so easy and fun to make! I used the fadeless white shiplap board paper as the background. I layered the double-sided turquoise bulletin border and burlap ribbon to make a border. The white tissue fans in the corner were so easy to add and really make the board look great! I used the wood grain bulletin board letters and rustic cutouts to finish it off!
Adding more rustic accents around my classroom really made the look come together. I used kraft paper bags with some tissue paper to make my name above my desk.
The rustic welcome banner looks great at the entry of our classroom!
For displaying student work, I used colored cardstock combined with these chalkboard place card holders for student names. I added the chalkboard banner to the top for the title.
These mini wood crates are what I will use for various table group supplies! The larger wooden container with some mason jars will hold our sharp and dull pencils!
I set up these mini pails under our calendar so that I can collect table points for my table groups!
The succulents, metal pails, and some faux greenery also add a great rustic touch to our classroom.
Burlap or burlap banners are a great tool to make a fun grade level banner. I simply used hot glue and ribbon scraps I had left over!
I am so excited for my new group of students this coming year and for them to see our rustic themed classroom!
