Fairytale Inspired Bridal Shower

Fairytale Inspired Bridal Shower

Several years ago I traveled to Russia and fell in love with a set of Matryoshka (nesting) dolls. They are hand painted with a series of images from a Russian Fairytale. The detail is stunning right down to the tiniest of dolls within. This bridal shower is inspired by the rich red, yellow and green colors of the dolls with their delicate gold accents as well as their Russian heritage and beautiful winter fairy-tale images.

These are perfect for your upcoming bridal shower. The winter tablescape has a whimsical quality that makes for a sophisticated theme. With plenty of botanical and winter fruit accents, your guest of honor will "fall in love" with this gorgeous fairy-tale inspired palette and theme.Russian-Fairytale-Brial-Shower-full roomRussian-Fairytale-Brial-Shower-birch-accentsThe Table:

I decided not to use tablecloths for this shower. Instead, I used the natural wood of the table as the backdrop to the table settings. I then used a simple yet whimsical chiffon table runner with the Silver Candelabra spray painted gold, and White Taper Candles as the main centerpiece. Along the table runner I scattered gold sprayed Antler Table Tossers, puffs of cotton, dried oranges, and fresh red winter berries along with some of the smaller nesting dolls.Russian-Fairytale-Brial-Shower-tabletopWhite fur seat covers and colorful satin ribbon ties on the chairs bring a fun color pop to the winter white and capture the celebratory feel of the shower.Russian-Fairytale-Brial-Shower-Chair-RibbonsPlace Settings:

Here I wanted the place settings to capture the original Russian inspiration. These Tea Party Plates have the perfect color palette and a beautiful scalloped edge design. They make me think of high tea at the Winter Palace. I placed these on top of the Shabby Chic Lace Placemats and the Gold Diamond Rim Clear Chargers for an elegant layered look. To the side I used gold forks on top of red napkins.Russian-Fairytale-Brial-Shower-Full-place-setting-aboveI added a red Patterned Champagne Flute to toast the bride, a Clear Patterned Plastic Wine Glass and a Clear Stemless Plastic Wine Glass with hand-painted metallic gold accents. This glass trio is so elegant and modern without the hefty price tag.Russian-Fairytale-Brial-Shower-Table-ViewRussian-Fairytale-Bridal-Shower-glass-trioOn top of each place setting, I added a DIY Faberge Egg Place Card filled with treats. A Romantic Winter Backdrop

I used a fun, modern white removable birch wallpaper to create the winter forest backdrop. I carried the winter white birch theme onto the dessert table top by using a lace tablecloth, fur runner, a sprinkling of Craft Snow, birch cuts, cotton plants, winter red berries and frosted greenery to recreate a winter forest feel.

I also opened the nesting dolls and used these as part of the display. It was lovely seeing the fairy-tales play out on the dolls, down to some of the smallest.Russian-Fairytale-Brial-Shower-birch-backdropFor dramatic flair, I used the White Cutout Dot Candle holders and hung these from the ceiling at varying heights using satin ribbon. These are very light and can be hung on removable hooks so as not to damage your ceiling. Inside these, I placed small bunches of red carnations. I love the pop of color they bought to the white Winter land backdrop.Russian-Fairytale-Brial-Shower-single-hanging-vaseI added more carnations to the inside of a White Bird Cage. This birdcage look reminds me of Russian Winter Palace decor. On top of the flowers, I sat a vintage Russian style bird I found on one of my trips to the local flea market. I never tire of rummaging around flea markets!Russian-Fairytale-Brial-Shower-Bird-Cage-with-flowersThe Cakes

The final touch to the dessert table, the cakes. I used a trio of cakes, each topped with winter fruits. Dried orange and sugared berries and grapes.Russian-Fairytale-Brial-Shower-All-CakesSugared berries are super easy to make - brush them with egg whites and then dip them in sugar. Let them dry on a drying rack before placing on top of the cakes.Russian-Fairytale-Brial-Shower-cake-toppingI had a lot of fun with the design of these cakes. The dark naked cake in the center has a fun flag with a Russian toast on it. This watercolor style design was created by Jen T by Design and it captures each of the colors of the nesting dolls in addition to a magical sprinkle of nighttime starlight.

This watercolor design is then captured on the body of the cake on the right by Confection Deception. The cake on the left has the design of the tea party plates replicated on it. I love tying in the cakes to the theme & design of the bridal shower.Russian-Fairytale-Bridal-Shower-Content-cakesThe Vodka & Caviar Bar

Every Russian celebration involves vodka! This one is no exception. We toasted "Gorka!" (Translation: Let's drink to love) and feasted on traditional Russian zakuski (hot & cold hors-d'oeuvres including a range of caviar. You can Create your Own Vodka & Caviar Bar here.Russian-Fairytale-Bridal-Shower-vodka-barI also prepared Quick and Easy Blini, Smoked Salmon, and Caviar Hors-d'oeuvres. These are great for passing around before guests are seated.Russian-Fairytale-Brial-Shower-BliniUnique Themed Details

Incorporate the Russian Fairytale theme throughout all areas of your bridal shower with modern flair. I loved the modern watercolor interpretation of nesting doll colors Jen T by Design used for the bar signage. I also used a beautiful on-trend peacock chair for the bride's special seat.
