This romantic midnight blue and silver wedding has dreamy tones of a starry night. While using midnight blues, and silvery twinkles of stars with the soft glow of the moon make for an incredibly romantic feel in any season. For the stargazers and astronomers who believe their love is written in the stars, I also incorporated a gorgeous heart constellation into this Romantic Midnight Blue and Silver Wedding. The "star to star" geometric heart designed by Elena of World Wide Party creates a stunning & timeless look.
The Table: For this wedding, I started with the night sky as a canvas, using dark midnight-blue table linens. On top of the midnight-blue, I used a sparkly Silver Sequin Table Runner and then created a Magical Starlight Centerpieces to accentuate the twinkle of the sequins. I placed one centerpiece a each end of the table. These are great cost-effective centerpieces, reducing the need for expensive reception floral arrangements. A stunning look and an incredibly simple DIY.
Just as the night sky is a blend of varying shades of blue I also used different blues on the table top. These represent the shades of blue found within the dark midnight-blue of the sky. Between the balls of starlight, I added a Silver Candelabra with blue candles. Then smaller silver mercury and Blue Vintage Glass Votive Candle Holders.
Lastly, I added a simple silver frame with the table "number" to the table. Rather than actual numbers, I used the names of constellations to represent each table, such as Cassiopeia. These designs by Elena of World Wide Party are available for you to download.
The Place Setting: This place setting was designed to turn each of your guests into a stargazer for the evening. I started with Silver Chargers, followed by a White Premium Plastic Dinner Plate with Silver Trim, a White Dinner Napkin and white plate with silver stars.
To the top right, I added DIY Stars I sprayed silver. Inside each star, I placed a Baci chocolate. These are perfect for a starry night wedding, they are wrapped in a starry night wrapper with the promise of Baci treat, the Italian word for kiss. Even better each chocolate is also wrapped in a love note. Can I get an Awww?!
I added Premium Metallic Silver Cutlery to each place setting, a Blue Patterned Plastic Wine Glass and Clear Patterned Champagne Flute.
Finally, on top of each setting, I placed a DIY Star Gazer Telescope Place Card. These place cards encourage guests to gaze at the beauty of the starry night around them and double as take-home favors.
The Chairs: A simple chair adornment brings a further pop of night-sky color to this table setting. I used strips from a Dark Blue Large Tulle Roll and tied them around each chair. Tulle is so versatile as it has a stiffness to it while still looking flowing and soft. I used a simple single knot, "flaring" out the fabric of the top piece of the knot over the knot itself. This gives a lovely fanned look and is super quick and easy.
The Backdrop: For a starry night wedding, brushstrokes, watercolor and ombre effects all work really well to create an eye-catching sky look and feel. I used each of these effects in different parts of the wedding design. For the reception and cake table backdrop, I used a Personalized Blue Watercolor Vinyl Backdrop. The watercolor and rich color combined with its size has real impact and accentuates the reception décor perfectly.
Even better this backdrop does double duty, it can also be used as a photo booth backdrop. A photo booth is a must for weddings in my book. They help break the ice and get guests interacting.
Just don't forget a wedding hashtag. The Personalized Wedding Instagram Hashtag Sign comes in the perfect blue and will remind your guests that you would love to see all the unedited fun on your Instagram feed!
Go with a Themed Cake & Cocktail: I fell in love with the heart constellation used in the printables for this wedding. This 2-tiered cake by Confection Deception incorporates it perfectly. The cake also uses a brushstroke ombre effect and is layered with a sprinkling of smaller stars to capture the beauty and depth of the night sky.
The cake sits on top of a silver mirrored stand to reflect more light and blue sequin linen for the glamour factor. I displayed the cake alongside my Moon Pie Cocktail and sweet Baci chocolates in Diamond Cut Pedestal Dishes. I love the sparkly effect the cut of these dishes has, especially when placed on sequins.
You can find the recipe for the Moon Pie Cocktail here, this is a fun thematic alternative to using champagne for the bride and groom's toast after they cut the cake.
The mini-moon pies also make for a cute dessert to serve up with the Baci chocolates.
Differentiate the Sweetheart Table: When it comes to creating your wedding reception, remember "it's all about you" this is your special day and moment to treasure! As such, I love to differentiate the sweetheart table and make it unique to the other tables.
If you can, elevate the sweetheart table closer to the night sky and go "all glam." We used a small balcony overlooking the romantic misty city.
Don't hold back on romantic lighting either, I used starlight, candlelight and fairy lights for this sweetheart table. I also changed out the central plates and used "Mr." and "Mrs." Tags on the DIY Star Gazer Telescope Place Cards for the bride and groom settings.
