Let’s Rock and Roll and party like rock stars! This Rock Star Party is the perfect way to celebrate your tween and all their rock star attitude - a great theme for a birthday, end-of-school party or another special celebration.
You may have noticed that vintage band t-shirts and rocking out to classic rock hits from the '70s through to the ’80s & ’90s is all the fashion for tweens right now.
The love of rock and the desire to act out rock star dreams runs strong, and this set-up hit all the right levels of "cool" with our tweens. They loved getting ready with rock star merch, performing on stage, VIP dining like rock stars and getting creative with their guitars!
VIP Entrance
"I won’t be a Rock Star. I will be a legend." Freddie Mercury
Give them the VIP treatment with a full on-stage experience as they arrive by setting up a photobooth that looks like a concert stage.
First, I started by hanging a Rock Star Backdrop at the back of the "stage."
Then across the top of the backdrop, I hung a Rock Star Party Custom Banner. You can even give their band a name and it comes with easy to hang sticky strips. On each side of this, I added the music notes from the Rock Star Hanging Swirl Decorations and some Large Red Metallic Stars.Above the banner I added a balloon garland using red, white, black & silver balloons in 9”, 11” and jumbo 36” sizes. Tip: Under inflate these if using them outside so that they last longer. Then I added Guitar Shaped Mylar Balloons to the arch.
In front of the backdrop to give it the depth of a stage, I used a Personalized Rock Star Guitar Life-Size Cardboard Stand-Up on one side. More band details!
Tip: Let them have fun picking the name!
In front of this, I added an Iridescent Disco Ball Piñata and a Blue Star Pinata for some rock 'n' roll glam!
On the other side, I used Guitar Life-Sized Cardboard Stand-Up and added an actual Inflatable Rock n’ Roll Guitar for them to use and some Rock Star Photo Stick Props for them to have some fun with. Now they really look the part and have the attitude to match!
We even let off a couple of smoke bombs during the performance for a full concert experience!
Note: Please use safely & responsibly under adult supervision.
Eating on the Tour Bus
“Music is a necessity. After food, air, water and warmth, music is the next necessity of life.” Keith Richards
I used a tabletop on top of crates to create a low picnic-style table outside, using blankets and cushions for seating. To give the table modern rock vibe, I used Black & Silver Star Gossamer as a table cover.
Down the center of the table, I scattered disco balls of varying shapes and sizes as well as Personalized Rock Star Guitar Picks. Then I placed two Medium Red Metallic Stars in the center to anchor black candlesticks and candles.
For place settings, I layered Rock Star Record Cardstock Placemats with Round Paper Dinner Plates and used the Guitar-Shaped Dinner Plates on top of these.
I then tucked a Modern Plastic Cutlery Set wrapped in a Black Metallic Stripe Beverage Napkin and sealed with a Personalized Rock Star Favor Sticker under the plate.
Then I placed a Guitar-Shaped Cup With Straw to the side of the setting. I had a little fun with these, tying strips of leather and lace to it for a rock vibe and adding a favor tag.
Next, I added Rock-Star Party Mini Foam Fingers that doubled as table décor and could be used as photo props!
Rock Star Desserts
“I definitely have a rock star lifestyle.” Avril Lavigne
Behind the dessert table, I hung a Rock Star Garland from the tree. Then in front of the table, I used the blue star, red star and disco ball pinatas as glam accents.
To coordinate with the eating table, I used the same silver star black gossamer to cover the dessert table.
In the center of the table, I placed red cake stand on top of a Black Buffet Riser, then I used two smaller black cake stands at one side and some black serving panels in front of these. I added guitars from the Rock Star Hanging Swirl Decorations to the black paddle boards and “Rock Star” to the riser for more of a rock vibe.
These all showcased rockin’ cookies from Trophy Baking here in Portland, Ore.
I chose band t-shirts for famous women rockers to inspire the girls as well as guitars and rock quotes such as “Born to Rock, “Rock n’ Roll” and “Rock Star.”
In front of the cake, I placed a candy bars with Personalized Rock Star Candy Labels wrapped around them. Then I added Personalized Rock Candy Pops with Let’s Rock Cards to the table.
Finally, I used a couple of cake stands for mini brownie bites and cupcakes, decorating these with Rock Star Cupcake Wrappers with Toppers.
Tour Bus Life
“I would have wanted to be a rock star, a lead singer, if I wasn’t a model. I’d go touring in a bus with my band. In my next life, that’s the plan.” Kate Moss
Entertain your rock stars during the festivities! Let them decorate their own DIY Guitar Cutouts.
I set up a table another low table using a tabletop on top of crates with blankets and cushions for seating. To give the girls the full creative experience I added a custom Rock Star table cover from Creative Crayons Workshop. In the center of the table, I added a DIY Flower Centerpiece that I painted black and attached cutouts and mini foam fingers, too.
I filled the box with guitar decorating supplies; glitter star shapes, glue, patriotic, patterned and primary solid washi tape, sequins, leather, lace, glitter and a Skull Sticker Roll.
We also played a fun game of Pin the Rock Star Tour Bus On The Map Game! Lots of laughter with the spins!
Merch Stand
“Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something. Make your own victories, Make your own mistakes.” Joan Jett
Time to make their way backstage, pick up some merch and take home some rock star attitude!
I set up my potting table and a bar cart as a merch stand with red painted gridwall on either side.
I used the gridwall to display t-shirts, Rockstar VIP passes on lanyards and Skull Headbands using Clothespins and red s-hooks. I then decorated it with the larger Rock Star Cutouts.
Above the merchandise stand I used a Personalized Rockstar Marquee Sign across the top. Talk about big impact up in lights!Under the marquee sign I set up a row of rock award trophies for the girls to take home.
Microphone Trophies were personalized with rock singing categories.
Guitar-shaped Rock Star Trophies were personalized for rock band and concert performance categories.
Under these, I laid out black jewelry trays with rock star merch for the kids to pick from. Trays with Rock Star Rubber Duckies and Rock Star Buttons flanked one side.
Trays held Rock Star Guitar Bead Necklaces and Rock Star Keychains that the girls actually put around their wrists.
Then I placed rows of Guitar Rock n’ Roll Stress Toys and scattered more guitar picks for décor and to take home.
On the bottom level, I decorated with rolls of lace, red star lanterns and an Acrylic Riser full of Disco Ball Necklaces. I also added a tray of Small Guitar-Shaped Gift Bags for the girls to hold their merch selections.
Next, on the bar cart, I placed a big vase of florals, using one of the photo booth prop sticks amongst it to amp up the rock star vibe. Here I also added more gift bags for merch and guitar picks, disco balls and cassette tapes as décor.
Then, I added some Super-Sized Glitter Rock Star Fun Bands, a fan favorite!
Finally, I added a fun speaker vase full of Skull & Crossbones Pencils for autograph taking!
Now are you ready to rock? I hope you've found more than enough inspiration from this Tween Rock Star Party setup!
