Retro Rainbow Roller Skating Party

Retro Rainbow Roller Skating Party

Roller skates are back in fashion and it's time to let our kids in on all the fun from our childhood! Roll out a totally tubular retro rainbow roller skating party for a seriously groovy time.

Celebrating a birthday doesn't have to be an over-the-top extravaganza. Keep it simple with an authentic #throwback! Rock out the rainbow stripes, pom-poms, striped knee-high socks and disco balls for some serious old school fun.

Then slip on some old school skates and let's get rollin'. It'll be RAD!

Over the back of each child's chair hang a fun DIY Roller Skate Tote Bag. Make these in advance or get the kids to make their own at the party. Either way they will love having these to carry their skates home to and from the rink.

THE PLACE SETTINGS

The kids will love this throwback place setting with all the retro favorites of our childhood. Start with all the rainbows! A Rainbow Square Paper Dinner Plate and Rainbow Beverage Napkins.

I always use white paper on my kids tables, so they can scribble and color while they eat. Add a fun rainbow crayon for the kids to use. Furry Plush Rainbow Pens, Shuttle Pens or Reversible Sequin Pens also fit with the theme and are sure to emit squeals of joy.

LET'S ROLL

Throw back to 80's tunes on the dessert table with an Awesome 80s Boombox Cardboard Stand-Up attached to the wall with removable mounting strips.

Overhead get the feel of a roller disco with a Pink Fringe Table Skirt and a Blue Fringe Table Skirt. After you have hung the fringe skirt to the ceiling using the adhesive strip, cut modern geometric shapes into the ends. It frames the cake and the kids will love watching the shimmer and shine as the light bounces off the foil.

Bring the retro vibe into the cake with groovy rainbow hearts and stripes that match the DIY Roller Skate Tote Bags. The Rainbow Party Plastic Tablecloth over the table also ties in perfectly.

Place the cake on a unique DIY Disco Ball Cake Stand.

On top of the cake use a mini disco ball with a retro roller skate cake topper. Pink of course!

At either side of the cake create a fun birthday message for your mini guests! This simple DIY uses adhesive Mirror Tiles on Iridescent Bulletin Board Letters. Glue the letters to an acrylic stand to keep them up-right.

It wouldn't be a retro dessert table without Pop Rocks® Cotton Candy Hard Candy and Pop Rocks® Bubble Gum Hard Candy. Serve them up in their boxes for a true snack stand look and feel. Elevate these on stands for easy access and visual interest on the table.

Roller skaters love practicing their moves by weaving around Orange Traffic Cones. Add some cones to the table as decor. Give them an extra pop of retro by cutting off the tops of Orange Team Spirit Knee-High Socks and sliding them over the cones.

Add more cones beside the table with a selection of disco balls and fun Chrome Mauve 11" Latex Balloons and Chrome Blue 11" Latex Balloons. The chrome is sooooo disco! Just like the leggings back in the day.

On the other side of the table use a small table or a couple of milk crates to hold an Inflatable Awesome 80s Boombox Cooler.
